The Nanosoft company provided to the university the free educational licenses nanoCAD SCS and gave support at its implementation and mastering.

The assistant to department of Communication networks and Data transmission of SPb tells GUT of M.A. Bonch-Bruyevich Zakharov Maxim Valeryevich: "During the teaching activity I was faced the need of development of a new course of laboratory and practical works on discipline "Design of communication networks". There was a wish not to follow sample techniques, and to give to students an opportunity to plunge into design process, to interest them, to acquaint with bases of future profession, to show advantages of modern CAD technologies. But without the software product simple in mastering, but at the same time having wide functionality was not to manage here. Fortunately, after short search I got on the official site of Nanosoft Ltd and, having got acquainted with opportunities of nanoCAD SCS, understood that it is the optimal choice for the solution of the arisen task.

I am recognized fairly, to create a new course in a short time it was difficult especially as earlier I had no work experience in a CAD. But with it I was very much helped by the materials of the official site of Nanosoft company containing the detailed instruction, actually – a benefit on fast start. It was necessary only to find in the Internet drawings in the *.dwg format, to arm with state standard specifications on design and construction of SCS and to start accomplishment of a pilot project on development of SCS of the standard building. Then, having added a few calculations and the presentations for the accompanying subject to the project, I received the good academic year project for students.

Of course, as well as any CAD, the program is imperfect: she is exacting, sometimes "suspends" (for example, when adding the new equipment). But these notes concern, first of all, nanoCAD SCS 7.0. The new version, nanoCAD SCS 8.0, provides to designers a number of new features".
Student of faculty of Infocommunication networks and Proshutinsky Konstantin Sergeyevich systems: "I got acquainted with nanoCAD SCS on a third year when studying discipline "Design of communication networks". Using this software product design of laying of cables on the floor was performed. I learned by own experience that domestic software has high quality and has broad functionality. Learn to work with the program it was simple thanks to the intuitive interface and ease of use."
The student of faculty of Infocommunication networks and systems Volkov Artem Nikolaevich speaks: "In learning process in the subject "Design of Communication Networks" we executed the project of structure of a cable system at two-storeyed office using nanoCAD SCS. I was pleasantly surprised with wide functionality of this software product and a possibility of high-quality automatic loading of a vector architectural and construction underlying cause of the plan of office. The intuitive, simple and user-friendly interface allowed to master in the shortest possible time work in nanoCAD SCS. And the flexibility of setup of separate elements and interface functions provided an opportunity to configure a working environment "under itself".

Among other advantages of nanoCAD SCS it would be desirable to note the following:
  • automatic routing of cables;
  • a possibility of use of the bases of the cable equipment, cabinets and the cable systems tied to producers;
  • automatic formation of the work documentation with the subsequent unloading in formats *.doc and *.xls;
  • creation of a 3D model of the project which can be used for complex assessment of correctness of laying of SCS, at protection of projects and demonstration in presentation material;
  • the organization of the Project manager as central base of the project that allows to work with drawings and the corresponding documentation in a complex.

Of course, nothing is perfect. Among main "minuses" of nanoCAD SCS there is a lack of cross-platform. I hope that in the subsequent versions I will be able to install the program not only on OS Microsoft Windows, but also on OS Linux. However it does not belittle advantages of nanoCAD SCS at all."
