2024: Move to Primo RPA on Linux

In 2024, VTB Bank was one of the first in the country to successfully switch to the robotization platform Primo RPA in the Linux environment. This was an important step in the global import substitution program at the Bank, covering more than 45 information systems and supporting high information security requirements.

Together with company experts Primo RPA T1 Integration bank and adapted software robots to work in a Linux environment. For this, a roadmap was created that provides operational improvements to software robots and their regression testing. The robot management platform and development studios are also completely switched to Linux, while maintaining full functionality, including session management and host connectivity when broken.

Key results:

  • 67 robots were transferred without stopping processes.
  • Reduced platform and infrastructure cost of ownership.
  • Developers and technical support specialists have been trained to work with the new environment, platform users have undergone delta training to use its capabilities productively.
  • Preparations were made for the implementation of citizen development approaches and the implementation of monitoring tools.

2021: Implementation of Primo RPA

, one of VTB Bank the largest, Russian banks began using technology robotizations business processes in 2018. Initially, a platform was used UiPath that helped automate routine processes, such as financial reporting. In 2020-2021, the bank decided to switch to a domestic platform Primo RPA in order to increase independence from imported ON and meet corporate requirements for IT systems.

The implementation of the Primo RPA platform took place in two stages. At the first stage, various domestic RPA platforms were evaluated according to 150 criteria, including architecture, security and cost of ownership. At the second stage, a more detailed analysis of the shortlist of candidates was carried out, and based on the results, Primo RPA was selected, which ensured 90% compliance with the UiPath functionality.

To date, VTB Bank has introduced 120 robots, 70 of which work on production. The total economic effect of robotization exceeds 600 million rubles. Robots perform tasks of issuing loans to individuals, processing applications for subsidies, supporting the migration of IT systems and many other processes. The introduction of robots also allowed the bank to save more than 350 FTE (full-time equivalents), which significantly increased efficiency.

Robotization helped VTB Bank achieve significant results in optimizing business processes, which led to significant resource savings and an increase in the quality of customer service.
