Vitranschart completed the analysis of license compliance of IT assets from Microsoft

On June 15, 2016 the Softline company announced project completion according to the complex analysis of use of software of Microsoft in Vitranschart company (Vietnam)^[1].

Project Tasks

The Vitranschart company is engaged in shipping and cargo delivery in the region. Project implementation is caused by need of optimization of accounting of contracts and costs for IT, exceptions of possible legal and financial risks. For this purpose the company management made the decision on project implementation of Software Asset Management (SAM).

As the IT partner Softline was selected.

Among the main objectives of the project:

• assessment of a status of contracts for the software of Microsoft;
• identification of the actual number of relevant licenses;
• analysis of legal and license risks;
• development of recommendations about optimization of licensing and purchase planning.

Project Progress

The project is executed less than in two months. About 70 automated jobs are checked. Specialists of the contractor conducted examination of the software of the customer in Vietnam, reconciliation of licenses with the actual credentials. For carrying out the analysis of license compliance Softline used the solution Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit (MAP) recommended by vendor. On the basis of the acquired information experts prepared a detailed report with recommendations about process optimization of management of lifecycle of software.

Project Results

For us it was the first SAM project implemented in Vietnam and it is very valuable experience. We considered all wishes of the customer, having developed accurate strategy of optimal use of licenses and management of lifecycle of software products, and we can tell that all works were performed successfully. It is really first implemented SAM project in Vietnam therefore we cannot underestimate that experience which was gained.
