2022: Warehouse Logistics Automation
InStock Technologies on June 28, 2022 announced the automation of warehouse logistics of Volzhsky Pipe Plant (VTZ).
The project was divided into two stages - business analysis and implementation.
During the business analysis, the main problems of the warehouse were identified and a solution was proposed. The main problem of the warehouse was - a large labor intensity in finding the necessary goods, transferring pipes for the selection of the necessary products.
With the implementation of InStock WMS in real time, the system always has information about the location of any product. The InStock WMS warehouse management system controls the physical movement of goods in the warehouse and the work of personnel. All physical actions with the goods are registered by employees through the data collection terminal, and the System, in turn, transmits tasks to employees directly to these terminals. Thus, the WMS controls the placement of products in the pipe storage pockets, monitors the correctness of the process through the shipping documentation, and issues corrective instructions to the shipping documentation of employees.
InStock WMS has established transparent inventory control.
The rules for optimal placement of products in each warehouse, taking into account the increase in loading speed, are configured in InStock WMS. InStock WMS instructs the employee in which pockets to place the product. The result no longer depends on the decisions of the shift masters, but is subordinate to the optimal rules configured in the system.
Effect: order, optimality and predictability in the placement of products in the warehouse, reduction of crane operations.
Under the management of InStock WMS, the speed of shipments has increased significantly. This is due to the fact that there is no need to search for products in the warehouse - WMS indicates the shipping documentation to the employee, from which pocket, how much product to take. Thanks to InStock WMS, shipping errors have been eliminated and the amount of "paperwork" has been reduced.
During the loading process, the MSD shipping documentation scans the barcodes of each pipe package being shipped. The WMS controls the correct shipment, taking into account the status of the Shipment Permits and each package, is error-free. At the end of the process, the data is automatically transferred to the ASU-3.
