The Wyeth company is one of world leading companies in the sector prescription and OTC medicines and veterinary medicines. In total in production departments of Wyeth 52000 employees are engaged at four continents. Thanks to the high-quality products, Wyeth improves life of millions of people around the world. Research programs of the company are focused, first of all, on synthetic medicines, vaccines and biotechnologies.

Order

From Jungheinrich UK company the PSI Logistics company won a contract for system implementation of management of a warehouse (WMS) for the Wyeth enterprise to Havant. WMS was faced by a task of management of supply and selection of products and also delivery of finished goods in the international branches Wyeth. The multilevel warehouse consists of 8 passes with 11 levels, with a capacity at 7800 warehouse places. Here 3 curvilinear manipulators loaders work in a semi-automatic mode. Transport messages are delivered on the mobile terminal of data (MTD) with indication for the driver; at the same time they automatically via the terminal go to a management system for loaders. The driver needs to click only, and the device automatically moves to the position specified by WMS. The driver only controls process. In the same way, acceptance or transfer pallets is performed only on clicking of the button of the driver, the driver is not engaged in positioning. Besides, there is an extensive rack zone and a narrow passes warehouse which serves as a cold warehouse. The cold warehouse consists of 5 passes. Crude products and semi-finished products which serve for shipment on special transfer points for the production purposes according to the data set a host system of PRISM are stored in it.

Specific Features

The special complexity of the project consisted in test procedures and the checks accepted in pharmaceutical industry. They are controlled by UBN (The Anti-Drug Office, department of the USA) including in Great Britain. Thus, the project was subject to application of comprehensive regulations on development and the requirement to documentation. GAMP was the main set of the applied standards. GAMP – "the management for development of automated systems". Project implementation, character and the sequence of tests, etc. are in detail regulated by GAMP.

In the same way, it was necessary to integrate into some PSIwms functions aspects of security for observance of directive 21CFR. It means that some functions in the interface of the program (change of value of stocks, change of value of a batch, etc.) require repeated password entry. These data should be stored in so-called "electronic accounting" for several years.

Configuration

PSIwms is implemented on Windows 2000 cluster as a system with a hot reserve (Hot-Standby). The cluster consists of two servers of Compaq under the Advanced Server Windows 2000 operating system. For data storage the Oracle database is used.
