2024: Training 8 thousand directors of Pyaterochka stores in virtual reality
X5 Group has introduced virtual reality technologies for personnel training, as a result of which more than 8 thousand directors of Pyaterochka stores have undergone VR trainings since mid-November 2024. TAdviser got acquainted with such information in December 2024.
The new approach has already shown its effectiveness: the number of complaints from buyers has decreased by 6%, and the level of courtesy of employees has increased.
Dina Zolotareva, director of the personnel training and development department of the Pyaterochka network, said that the company creates modern training formats that allow employees to develop professionally on the job.
A key element of the program is a speech recognition system that analyzes employee conversations with a virtual buyer and provides instant recommendations. The duration of the course is 25 minutes, which is equivalent to an hour and a half group training.
The introduction of VR technologies allowed X5 Group to save more than 8.5 thousand working hours previously spent on traditional forms of training. In the coming months, it is planned to train more than 200 thousand employees, including cashier sellers, bakers and store administrators.
By 2025, virtual reality will account for 25% of the total training system for Pyaterochka retail staff. The methodology allows employees to receive training directly at the workplace at a convenient time.
The Perekrestok supermarket chain, part of the X5 Group, uses VR technology to train new employees from 2021. The immersion time is 15 minutes, replacing traditional hour-long trainings.
The development of immersive technologies in staff training is becoming an important part of the company's ESG strategy, contributing to lower operating costs and increased satisfaction for both employees and customers.
On May 19, 2020, X5 Retail Group announced a large-scale transition to training store employees in virtual reality. The technology will help remotely, without the full-time participation of the teacher, to train personnel in various functions and skills, including competent dialogue with the buyer and warehouse management.
In 2020, 846 operating supermarkets will be connected to the new training format. " Intersection The technology will become the standard for opening new outlets.
To train sellers, the retailer will purchase 1,000 VR glasses, the necessary management platforms, as well as licenses. Kh5 independently manages the VR training system, develops new courses, is engaged in promotion. This allows the company to move from a long development of courses to an express designer of training modules for solving almost any application.
During individual sessions using VR glasses, employees undergo a workflow simulation. This is the most effective training format that allows you to almost immediately apply the acquired skills in practice, which, in turn, leads to an increase in RTO and NPS (customer satisfaction). This technology also improves such indicators as staff turnover, labor productivity and additional sales (including related products). Courses related to customer service and product descriptions have already been developed and implemented. After passing these modules, employees can use VR to learn management skills and deeper specialization (cash desk, warehouse, production, etc.), X5 said in a statement.
Previously, VR training was tested in 100 Perekrestok supermarkets and three Karusel hypermarkets in Moscow and the Moscow Region, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh, Sochi, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Perm and other cities. More than 1,600 workers were trained as part of the pilot.[1]
