"Rosseti the Yarenergo Center" expands use of artificial intelligence technologies

2020: Testing of projects on the basis of AI

On June 16, 2020 it became known that in branch "Rosseti Center Yarenergo" started trial operation of technologies of automatic recognition information from metering devices of the electric power and to control of existence of means of protecting of personnel on duty with use artificial intelligence. Works are conducted within the projects which are joint development of Yarenergo, Point of view company and Center of artificial intelligence and digital economy Yaroslavl state university to them P.G. Demidova.

The "Recognition of Information from Electric Power Metering Devices" project represents mobile application for automatic reading of indications from power meters, integrity checking of protective seals and assessment of technical condition of metering devices. For accomplishment of these transactions the electrician needs to point the mobile phone camera at the counter. The artificial intelligence technologies which are the cornerstone of the program allow a digital system to perceive information and to save it as the database. The first results of tests of mobile application of power are going to receive in August, 2020.

The "Control of Existence of Means of Protecting of the Duty Electrician on Operation of the Equipment of Substations of 35-110 KV" project is tested for substations Northern in Yaroslavl. A system analyzes data from the video camera installed at an input on an object. By means of technologies of computer vision she distinguishes presence at electricians of means of protecting – helmets, overalls, dielectric gloves, in case of their absence sends the notification to a dispatcher station and blocks access to substation. A system is capable to self-training in process of accumulation of the processed data. During its testing which will last till September, 2020 power engineering specialists are faced by a task to achieve diagnosing accuracy at the level of not less than 90%.

We pay much attention to work on own innovation and improvement suggestions and we try to use them with the maximum effect, including – for implementation of the concept of digital transformation. At Yarenergo branch considerable positive experience in the field is accumulated. In case of successful passing of pilot operation both projects can be recommended for replication in all 20 regions of our operational responsibility, - the CEO "Rosseti the Center" pocherknut - management company "Rosseti the Center and Volga region" Igor Makovsky[1].
