2020: Start blockchain program

At the end of May, 2020 the Nespresso company began to use a blockchain for supply control of coffee from Zimbabwe to save buyers from counterfeits. The initiative received the name AAA Sustainable Quality.

In 2018 Nespresso started the Reviving Origins program to recover coffee agriculture in the regions which were injured after war. In the late eighties Zimbabwe produced 15,000 tons of coffee, and in 2017 this indicator was only 500 tons. Nespresso gradually recovers former agricultural capacities of the country. At the same time the company states that it uses programs for goods without blockchain since 2003, just did not share it with the public.

We know what interests our consumers more and more from where coffee undertakes. Thanks to our AAA Sustainable Quality program we trace more than 15 years separate farms in our supply chain, - the CEO of Nespresso Guillaume Le Canf (Guillaume Le Cunff) told. - I am glad that thanks to new a blockchain initiative we can take one more step forward and suggest our clients to get acquainted independently with farmers who grow up grains for preparation of coffee.

Unfortunately, new a blockchain program it is not held for use general public yet. On the provided hash which can be checked in a public chain of the Ethereum blocks the user can load zip-files to browse data in spreadsheets.

But the parent company Nespresso, Nestle, very seriously treats tracking of products and blockchain technologies. The company is included into corporate network IBM Block Trust and recently entered partnership with Rainforest Alliance for certification of coffee beans which arrive from farms in South America. Thus, the company successfully keeps track of origin of the Zoégas coffee and the range of children's GUIGOZ Bio milk.^[1]
