2020: Game IQ start

On September 2, 2020 the App Annie company announced start of Game IQ, a vertical analytical product which unifies data on categories, genres and subgenres of mobile games and also allows to obtain information on games on diverse tags - to settings, monetization model, style of a game, etc.

According to the company, division of all games into three classes became a basis of classification: Core, Casual and Casino.

  • Casual is simple games which users play often and short sessions.
  • Core is more difficult games in which spend more long game sessions.
  • Casino is games where in this or that type rates become and the prize is defined in a random way.

For September, 2020 a situation in the market such is that games cannot be analyzed at the level of categories, and data collection most often requires manual work:

Game IQ allows to analyze games on categories, genres, subgenres and various tags
  • categories are not always relevant and each company has own vision of taxonomy that complicates carrying out contrastive analysis;
  • app stores do not provide detailed division of games of categories because of what the efficiency of the analysis decreases;
  • there are no data on the game functions necessary for the analysis of indicators of success.

Game IQ is created to solve these problems, and offers accurate visual structure for the analysis of tens of thousands of applications, answering the following questions:

  • amount of the market: what market opportunities exist for separate categories of games;
  • game class: Core, Casual, or Casino;
  • genre: to what genre the gameplay belongs;
  • subgenre: what key components of a game consist in;
  • tags modifiers: separate characteristics, such as IP, style of play and model of monetization.

The Game IQ platform for September, 2020 contains more than 27,000 games classified and broken according to tags within own database.
