2019: Microsoft purchased the DataSense platform  from BrightBytes company

On February 4, 2019 Microsoft announced purchase of the platform for DataSense data management  at BrightBytes company to expand analytical opportunities of the products used at schools, the universities and other educational institutions. The cost of the transaction is not published.

Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft receives all assets connected about DataSense, including development team. The company is going to integrate the platform with the family of the educational products Microsoft Education.

The interface of Clarity service which develops BrightBytes after DataSense sale

Microsoft calls DataSense "the leading iPaaS-solution (the integration platform as service) for suppliers of educational solutions and school districts in the USA".

BrightBytes specializes in development of analytical tools for educational institutions. The company which is based in San Francisco cooperates with Microsoft many years, said in the publication ZDNet of February 4, 2019.

BrightBytes provides to schools tools and services which help to estimate influence of these or those educational technologies, platforms and applications on learning process. The service also creates reports for separate schools, offers recommendations about learning process improvement

After closing of the transaction with Microsoft BrightBytes will have platform for support of a cycle of decision making of Clarity which uses machine learning and predictive analytics.

Microsoft claims that the acting clients of BrightBytes using DataSense will not see any problems in work of the services after change of the owner of the platform.

DataSense in combination with Azure will help users to collect, to manage and control access to the data. Adding of DataSense will give to schools more opportunities for information analysis, said in the press release of Microsoft.[1]
