SAP Tennis Analytics for Coaches allows to carry out the analysis of actions of the opponent according to the results of tournaments.

2019: Game Pattern function

On October 22, 2019 the SAP company announced that coaches of Women's Tennis Association (Women’s Tennis Association, WTA) will be able to use enhanced capabilities of the SAP solution Tennis Analytics for Coaches for the exact analysis of actions of the opponent according to the results of tournaments.

According to information for October, 2019, the Game Pattern function added to the SAP Tennis Analytics for Coaches system will allow tennis-players and trainers to analyze and compare more detailed data of rivals to develop the correct strategy and tactics, having got competitive advantage on court.

The offered functionality will allow to solve a problem of a lack of objective data for modeling of actions and reactions of players. On the basis of the acquired information, using special filters and settings, trainers will be able to make personal recommendations the ward. So, for example, positions of the rival in ratings, specifics of giving, characteristic of a covering of court, etc. will be considered.

The Game Pattern function includes the following elements:

  • Analysis of exchange of blows: the tennis court is divided into segments, on each of which the expanded analytics is available. Trainers can filter data, analyzing the player's position at this or that moment of a game and also responses of the opponent
  • Analysis of giving: collecting and analytics of the data connected with giving including, the specifics are bright, arrangement of a ball when giving as they affect result of a game and a game in general
  • Analysis of a rebound of a ball: analytics of historical data on rebound points which allow to understand where the ball after blow returns and also to estimate success of giving. The trainer will have in advance information on the level of aggression of the rival, using which it will be possible to define an optimum angle on court.
