Project date: 2022/12

On December 27, 2022, the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) announced the use of pilotless a truck "" KAMAZ to transport refractories from production preparation management warehouses to the construction site of coke battery No. 12.

The MMK industrial site uses the KAMAZ-43118"" model, which uses sensors, cameras and radars, as well as navigation system data and instructions embedded in the program for orientation in space. Drone equipped with a speed limit system and adaptive cruise control, can read information from road signs and pass intersections without interfering with other traffic participants, and at level crossings, the car recognizes a traffic light and stops to pass the train.

The lifting capacity of the machine is 10 tons. It is all-wheel drive. Its movements are monitored by an operator in the control room, who can interfere with the control of the machine, take it over or, conversely, transfer it to the robot. A single operator can drive multiple vehicles. An antenna is installed on the cabin, which provides constant communication with the dispatcher and coordination of movement with other cars.

According to Dinas Talipov, chief specialist of the innovative car service of the KamAZ PJSC scientific and technical center, the tested drone is a converted serial model on which the necessary equipment is installed so that the car can work both in normal and autonomous mode. The machine can be operated at any time of the day and in any weather conditions. For example, in case of ice, the program provides a special algorithm of actions.

I think that as production processes develop further, the use of such vehicles in certain areas will become mandatory and will allow redirecting human resources to solve safer and more creative tasks, "said Viktor Shishkin, director of Motor Transport Management LLC (part of the MMK PJSC Group[1]
