The author of works by the architectural principles of creation of computer systems, the computer software. The first European scientist awarded ranks Intel Fellow.

65 years ago the American physicists William Shokli, John Bardin and Walter Bratteyn showed the first transistor. In 1956 scientists were awarded with the Nobel Prize on physics "for researches of semiconductors and discovery of transistor effect". John Bardin was soon conferred the Nobel Prize for the second time for creation of the theory of superconductivity. Later transistors replaced vacuum lamps in the majority of electronic devices, having made revolution in creation of integrated circuits and computers. The name for the new device was thought up by John Pearce.
