2023: Magnit bought a stake in Sambury

On October 27, 2023, Magnit announced the purchase of 33.01% of the Far Eastern chain of Sambury stores. The agreement also involves an increase in Magnit's share to 100% within five years.

After the closure of the deal, scheduled for the summer of 2024, Sambury will continue to develop under its brands and the management of the current management team. The company did not disclose the financial terms of the contract. The general director of INFOLine-Analytics Mikhail Burmistrov, in a conversation with RBC, estimated the total cost of Sambury at 20-25 billion rubles, based on which the purchase of 33.01% of shares could cost Magnit 6.6-8.3 billion rubles. The Far East is an extremely attractive region where federal retail is still poorly represented, the expert noted.
