We have already started demonstrating technology and see the interest of customers. Commercial firms, small museums and galleries, municipal services have the task of digitizing documents in pre- A2 format, but the purchase of expensive high-end scanners with a matrix or linear CCD sensor is not rational, "said Ricardo Monteiro, managing partner of Scansystem Ltda. - They want a product from a lower price category, but at the same time fast, convenient, professional, creating high-quality electronic copies. Based on our extensive experience, we plan that ElarSCAN A2 with a sensor based on a powerful digital camera will quickly take its place in the South American market. Elarskan will take part in a number of specialized and industry exhibitions this spring.

2017: "ElarSCAN" received an updated design

In 2017, Elar Corporation introduced the updated ElarSCAN planetary scanner with an original design designed to achieve even greater convenience in working with the device and its performance. In addition to its sophisticated design appearance, the updated ElarSCAN ensures practical use thanks to new controls and original design solutions.

"ElarSCAN" in the updated design

Design

Due to the change in the front panel, ergonomics has increased. The touch button control unit of the main modules and functions of the scanner with a press response provides a high level of comfort with ElarSCAN. The panel is responsible for controlling the macro module, lighting system, cradle electric drives and pressure glass. To quickly run the scan, two separate large keys are displayed.[1]

The housing, which now has a practically monolithic structure, is distinguished by high rigidity, thereby eliminating the effect of blurry images from possible vibrations and external influences.

Specifications

The updated ElarSCAN has a scanning resolution of up to 600 dpi (up to 800 dpi in macro scanning mode), an automatic focus on originals up to 25 cm thick, a built-in LED system without IR and UV radiation with software control, Elar ScanImage embedded software, equipped with USB 2.0/3.0 and Gigabit Ethernet ports.

The ElarSCAN scanning system is equipped with a professional camera with an increased operating life and the ability to adjust optical proximity (macroscanning). The printing volume per day is 5 thousand pages.

The universal book cradle provides the ability to fix various opening angles from 90 to 180 degrees. In addition, it is possible to adjust the height of the panels for originals up to 10 cm thick with a weight of up to 10 kg.

ElarSCAN also has a built-in computer and an extensive service base from the manufacturer. Most of the above parameters are absent not only in budget scanners, but also in more expensive devices from foreign manufacturers.

The dimensions of the scanner in the updated design are 870 mm (e) x 770 mm (w) x 1050 mm (c) with a weight of 39 kg. "ElarSCAN" has several modifications, depending on which an additional alphanumeric code may be present in the name.

Cost

Elar Corporation does not intend to raise prices for the updated model so that its scanner remains one of the most affordable on the market. The initial cost is from 440 thousand rubles.

2015

Deliveries of ElarScan A2 for five months of 2015

In the first five months of 2015, ElarSkan A2 placed in almost twenty organizations of various profiles: the apparatus of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Labor and Employment of the Russian Federation, administrations of municipalities, libraries, museums, universities, archives, arbitration courts, registry offices, scientific and production association.

Libraries scan catalog cards, periodicals, books on this equipment. The V-shaped cradle adapts to any format, which allows you to electronically translate dilapidated originals, books with a damaged spine and documents with incomplete disclosure. The cradle opening angle is adjustable from 90 to 180 degrees, as are the panels - in height and width, which guarantees the safe placement of the originals on the scanner.

ElarScan A2 can be used as a self-service terminal with flexible configuration of system access rules. The computer built into the hardware and software complex provides full autonomy of operation, connection of additional devices for user identification and image printing, operation on the local network and direct transfer of images by e-mail, to a network folder, to FTP, WEB or USB media.

Museums digitize on ElarSkan A2 accounting documentation and exhibits. So, in the museum-estate of P.I. Tchaikovsky in Votkinsk, equipment was supplied for the project of restoration of museum objects, timed to coincide with the celebration of the 175th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian composer, and will be used to digitize his written heritage. The Written Sources Foundation of the Museum - the estate of P.I. Tchaikovsky includes more than 10 thousand items of storage - rare book and musical editions, manuscript and printed documents.

ElarSCAN A2 is completely safe for museum, library and archival documents. LED illumination without harmful IR and UV radiation evenly distributes the light flux throughout the document. The system allows you to work comfortably at any level of ambient lighting. The scanning base uses professional optical elements and a photosensor with high image detail. Focal length control allows you to scan in normal mode with a resolution of up to 400 dpi or in macro mode with a resolution of up to 800 dpi. The speed of operation does not depend on the size of the original and the color mode of digitization. The camera provides real-time preview, fully automatic focus and original format detection.

The municipal budgetary institution of the Vyazemsky municipal district "Association" Culture, "which includes the Central District Library and the Vyazemsky Museum of Local Lore named after N.V. Usenko, also acquired a planetary scanner for digitizing various documents. ElarSCAN A2, supplied to the "Association of Culture," is equipped with an automated V-shaped pressure glass that allows you to straighten page curves in the binding area. The pressure exerted by the glass on the original is not more than 20 grams per 1 cm2.

Thanks to the versatility of ELARskan A2, the long-term stereotype of the perception of a planetary scanner as a device that is relevant exclusively for cultural institutions that need to scan books is being destroyed. For ships, departments, administrations and commercial organizations, this equipment is suitable for organizing the current digitization of incoming documentation. Organizations integrate planetary scanners into their IT infrastructure, solving, among others, the task of monitoring scanning.

ElarSKAN is A2 in demand by arbitration courts that scan incoming documentation on cases. Digitization of documents in the archives of regional and municipal administrations, registry offices is of great social importance. 60-80% of the materials here are paper cases in which it is extremely long and inconvenient to look for information necessary for making decisions, forming document packages, preparing responses to requests from other authorities, appeals from citizens, etc. The translation of documents into electronic form in these organizations is aimed at optimizing the processes of providing services to citizens, as well as government agencies within the framework of interdepartmental interaction.

The technique on which employees of government agencies and institutions will work independently should be very convenient to operate and "not require" complex manipulations from specialists. Two keys on the front of the device allow you to start the scanning process without using the embedded software interface.

The monitor displays the expected result of the digitization in real time. The user has full access to all the functions of the scanner, the ability to preview and correct images.

Another area in which ElarSCAN is in demand is A2 digitization of design and technical documentation. The equipment was delivered to the Krasnoznamenets NPP, an important area of activity of which is to conduct comprehensive research on the creation of products, materials and compositions for industrial and civil purposes.

The powerful software built into ElarSCAN A2 for managing the full digitization cycle includes image processing, quality control, export and conversion tools. The system implements the functions of single or batch scanning, streaming file loading, creating and configuring profiles, algorithms for developing fading text and removing image defects when working with retrospective originals and documents of poor quality.

Scanning is performed in manual or semi-automatic mode (page flip definition). The resulting images are processed automatically and taking into account the settings set by users (spread breakdown, alignment, removal of black borders, trimming, correction of the root bend, page recognition, etc.). All popular formats are supported (TIFF, JPEG, PDF, XML, SQL, etc.).

Unlike other camera scanners, ElarSCAN is A2 not sensitive to vibrations. The equipment can be used daily in high load mode. Even if there are sudden malfunctions, they will be fixed very quickly. Firstly, the components of the scanner, we recall, are Russian, so you won't have to wait a long time for deliveries from afar. Secondly, diagnostics and monitoring of the scanner, its configuration and software update can be carried out remotely thanks to the ELAR TeleService technology. ELAR applied to scanners the same technology used by car manufacturers to perform remote diagnostics and online support. "ELAR TeleService is designed to collect statistical information on the operation of scanning equipment, subsequent processing of the received data and analysis of the state of a specific device, as well as monitoring maintenance schedules (TO-0, TO-1, TO-2) with confirmation of its implementation. ElarSCAN A2 is the most affordable device among such equipment. At the same time, the Russian developers of the scanner took into account the maximum nuances and features that are inherent in the activities of the domestic customer - from the federal department to the municipal library.

PAC on the ElarSKAN platform A2

On August 18, 2015, ELAR Corporation announced the creation of a firmware complex based on the ElarSCAN A2 scanner. The proposal is aimed at municipal archives in ensuring the safety of archival funds and increasing the efficiency of processing social and legal requests of citizens.

As part of the PAC:

  • ElarSCAN A2 planetary scanner,
  • software ELAR ScanImage,
  • Network Symbol Store.

The software controls the processes of digitization and batch image processing, improves the quality of symbols (udaleniye "noise," spots, background, cropping at the edges, alignment, etc.), supports work with large amounts of data that are stored in any convenient format at the user's choice. Networked storage provides centralized file placement and protection.

High-quality digitization of archival businesses and accumulation of document symbols in a specialized online storage will ensure the safety and protection of archive data. As a result, an electronic resource will be ready to fill the archive information system with accounting and document search functions in order to further automate the processing of citizens' requests.

"The translation of documents into electronic form has long been in demand by municipalities, since they need to participate in interdepartmental interaction, switch to servicing citizens at the MPSC, and simply increase the efficiency of structural units. Due to its own, Russian developments, ELAR Corporation was able to formulate a unique proposal in terms of cost and conditions that allows municipalities to solve several problems in document management at once, "said Ilya Verigin, head of analytics and work with ELAR state institutions
.
