"State Scientific Center of the Russian Federation - A. I. Burnazyan Federal Medical Biophysical Center" (FSBI State Research Center of the A.I. Burnazyan FMBA of Russia) was established in accordance with Resolution No. 894 of the Government of the Russian Federation of December 17, 2007. Today, the FSBI State Research Center of the A.I. Burnazyan FMBA of Russia occupies a leading scientific position in Russia and is the leading research organization in the system of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency in the field of radiobiology, radiation medicine, radiation hygiene.
History
2025: Construction of a cyclotron-radiochemical complex for the production of radiopharmaceuticals for ₽17,9 billion
The service of the technical customer of the FMBA of Russia announced a tender for the construction of a cyclotron-radiochemical complex worth ₽17,9 billion for the production of radiopharmaceuticals. The specialized unit will be located in the reconstructed 4th building of the A.I. Burnazyan Federal Medical Biophysical Center in Moscow. The announcement of the search for a contractor was published in July 2025.
According to the publication vademecum, the new complex is intended for the production of gamma and positron-emitting radionuclides on the cyclotron TR-24, the production of radioactive raw materials and the synthesis of radiopharmaceutical precursors. The project will be implemented under a state defense order at the expense of the federal budget.
The contract for the construction of the complex is designed until December 20, 2030. The reconstruction will take place in stages with uneven funding. In 2025, ₽160 million will be allocated to the contractor, in 2026 funding is not provided, in 2027 ₽70 million will be allocated. The bulk of the amount will be distributed between 2028 and 2030.
The A.I. Burnazyan Federal Medical Biophysical Center conducts fundamental and applied scientific research in the field of radiation and nuclear medicine, radiopharmaceuticals, radiobiology. For the industrial production of radioprotectors, radiomytigers and radionuclide drugs, a specialized production site was required.
The Contractor shall develop design documentation based on the medical and technological assignment, perform engineering surveys, carry out reconstruction and supply the necessary equipment. Radionuclides produced in the cyclotron-radiochemical complex will be used for the development and manufacture of approved and experimental radiopharmaceuticals.
According to the technical specification, the new complex will allow using a unique nomenclature of labeled molecular tracers to assess biological processes in vivo when studying new methodological approaches to therapy of various diseases.[1]
