ELAR and TsSPB named after V.V. Mayakovsky cooperate in the development of the city project of access to cultural heritage - the Electronic Library of the Corporate Network of Public Libraries of St. Petersburg, the task of which is to ensure the diversity of materials included in wide online access.

During this stage of work, the specialists of the ELAR corporation digitized 239 books and 21 annual booklets of the newspapers Izhorets and Along the Stalinist Way, as well as the unique collection album of photographs Petrodvortsova Watch Factory, dedicated to one of the oldest operating Russian enterprises, the beginning of the history of which was laid by Peter the Great in 1721.

Among the most valuable publications for which digital copies were created this time, one can note, for example, the novel by Abbot Prevost (1697-1763) "Manon Lesko," which invariably falls on the world lists of literary masterpieces (L'abbé Prevost. 2021: Digitization of Nine Library Materials

Rare materials from nine libraries in St. Petersburg have been digitized by ELAR, which announced this on September 1, 2021.

In August 2021, ELAR Corporation digitized 174 rare publications for the Central City Public Library named after V.V. Mayakovsky.

Digitization took place as part of the development of the city project of access to cultural heritage - the Electronic Library of the Corporate Network of Public Libraries of St. Petersburg. The project is conducted by the TsGPB named after V.V. Mayakovsky. Its main task is to ensure a variety of materials included in online access. The statistics of reader demand, visual and meaningful attractiveness of the content are taken into account.

In 2021, in addition to the funds of the TsGPB itself named after V.V. Mayakovsky, which included books on the history of St. Petersburg and rare notes, included publications of the 1920s - 1940s of the Central City Children's Library named after A.S. Pushkin, books, notes, newspapers from collections of centralized library systems (CBS) Vasileostrovsky, Kalininsky, Kirovsky, Krasnogvardeisky, Nevsky and Pushkin districts. A small selection of museums-estates from the fund of the Scientific Library of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg, valuable and rare editions from the collection of the Scientific Library of the State Museum of the History of Religion (GMIR).

The library notes that many years of cooperation with ELAR Corporation is dictated not only by the quality of digital content and the use of scanning equipment, but also by an extremely careful attitude to original publications, attentive attitude to the customer's wishes, "transparency" of the digitization procedure and interaction with the contractor at each stage of cooperation.

2020: Completion of the third stage of digitization of funds

ELAR Corporation completed the third stage of digitization of the funds of St. Petersburg libraries in 2020, organized by the Central City Public Library named after V.V. Mayakovsky. Elar announced this on December 23, 2020. The purpose of digitization is to provide free online access to sources of cultural and scientific heritage on the platform of the Electronic Library of the Corporate Network of Public Libraries.

During the work in November-December 2020, 309 titles of books, newspapers and magazines from six libraries were digitized.

The digitization of the annual sets of the Tsarskoye Selo Gazeta from the collection of the TCBS of the Pushkin District also continued, rare foreign publications of the TsGPB named after V.V. Mayakovsky were digitized (including old works about Russia from the fund of the Memorial Library of Prince. G.V. Golitsyna). Rare books were scanned within the framework of the collection "Scientific Knowledge" of the Central Bank of the Kalinin District, rare editions from the funds of the Central Bank of the Kirovsky District and the Nevsky Central Bank.

Mayakovsky notes that the attentive attitude of the ELAR corporation specialists at various technological stages made it possible to specify the requirements of the technical assignment regarding the digitization of large-format publications, the peculiarities of the color mode of scanning different types of sources, the introduction of a "watermark" into the scan image - the identifier of the stock holder, etc. The operational execution of the work will allow posting the first files of e-books online at the end of December 2020.

September 08, 2015. ELAR Corporation announced the completion of the project for the creation of the Petersburg electronic collection in the Central City Public Library named after V.V. Mayakovsky (TsGPB named after V.V. Mayakovsky).

History

Petersburg is one of the first collections of the Electronic Library of the KSOB St. Petersburg. This is a comprehensive project to select, describe and submit documents on the history of St. Petersburg on the Internet. The starting point of the collection was the list of the main literature in St. Petersburg (St. Petersburg: materials for the encyclopedia. St. Petersburg, 2003). The experience of reference services for readers in local history allowed the specialists of the St. Petersburg Department of the Central State Pedagogical Hospital named after V.V. Mayakovsky, curators of the collection, to significantly supplement the list of sources with address books, anniversary collections of institutions, lists of persons (graduates of educational institutions, officials, merchants), statistical sources, etc., actually rich works on culture, everyday life, economy and management of the Northern capital. "Petersburg" is formed on the basis of the funds of the Central State Pedagogical Hospital named after V.V. Mayakovsky, the Russian National Library, the Russian State Library, the Library of the Academy of Sciences, the Library of the St. Petersburg University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, the Central Naval Library and other collections.

According to the plan, the collections "Rare Notes," "Blockade/Military Book of Leningrad," the collections of library systems of St. Petersburg: Moscow, Kirov, Vyborg, Krasnogvardeisky, Nevsky Districts, M.Yu. Lermontov.

The principal position of the TsGPB named after V.V. Mayakovsky is to preserve the original image of the book while providing automated search by text.

Project progress

In the course of work in 2015, ELAR specialists scanned 57,500 pages of old, including dilapidated, books. For careful digitization, special equipment ELAR PlanScan series C was used. "In the process of implementing the next stage of work, an array of electronic texts of documents was formed with the automatic replacement of pre-revolutionary spelling signs with similar signs of modern spelling," commented Grigory Evstigneev, Deputy Director of the Department for Work with Libraries and Universities ELAR. "The electronic format contributes to the creation of an information space for various categories of users, and increases the ability of libraries to provide a wide audience with access to their resources."

The electronic library is available to readers both in the library itself and remotely via the Internet, which provides wide access to rare books on the history of St. Petersburg to everyone, regardless of where they live, and full-text search mode allows you to quickly find information of interest.

The goals of the creation of "Petersburg" correspond to the federal target program "Information Society" for 2011-2020.
