On May 6, 2020 LANIT reported that the LANTER company provided each lobby of all 13 stations of the Novosibirsk subway with a possibility of contactless payment of journey by bank cards.

The first tourniquets with a possibility of contactless payment of journey appeared in the Novosibirsk subway in 2016. For the last three years the number of the paid trips using bank cards doubled.

For payment it is possible to use proximity bank cards with support MasterCard Visa of PayPass/PayWave technologies and other devices (for example, hours or smartphone). The card or the device need to be attached on the reader device (reader) on specially equipped tourniquet. MasterCard PayPass/Visa PayWave technologies allow to write off up to 1 thousand rubles without authorizations through PIN- the code. Safety of performing transactions is ensured certified payment systems by MasterCard and Visa.

Novosibirsk – for May, 2020 the second city in Russia after St. Petersburg where in the subway contactless payment of journey by the bank card is available at all stations. On passenger traffic volume the subway of Novosibirsk takes the third place in Russia, conceding only to Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Use of technology of contactless payment by bank cards in transport has several advantages, as for passengers, and the subway.
