For several years TransTeleCom has been actively participating in a project to develop public Wi-Fi networks at railway facilities. In particular, wireless Internet access, organized for passengers, already operates at nearby Yaroslavsky, Leningradsky and Kazan railway stations. The Square of Three Stations station is part of the current Moscow central diameter of the MTsD-2, as well as a new MTsD-4, which will be put into operation in the near future.

The number of connections to free Wi-Fi at railway stations exceeded 5.5 million

In February 2018, TransTeleCom (TTK) analyzed the use of wireless Internet access at Russian railway stations. The single Wi-Fi network has been operating since 2015 and, as of February 28, covers 107 stations in 83 settlements of the country.

At the end of 2017, the total number of connections to free Wi-Fi at railway stations in Russia exceeded 5.5 million, and the total volume of downloaded traffic came close to 1000 TB.

Visitors to the stations showed the greatest activity in the summer months: for example, in August 2017, the total number of connections exceeded 566 thousand, which, for example, is 44% higher than in February. The total number of unique users of the service in the summer is one and a half times more than in the winter months, the TransTeleCom noted.

Seasonality is also viewed in the dynamics of the volume of incoming traffic. The most "active" month was August - visitors to Russian stations this month downloaded 96 TB of data, in second place - July (92 TB), and in third - December (91 TB). Among the spring months, the leader in Wi-Fi activity at the stations was May, and among the autumn months - November.

The Leningrad station in Moscow topped the rating in terms of the number of unique Wi-Fi users in 2017, and Yaroslavsky - in terms of the volume of downloaded traffic. However, in the summer months, leadership in both parameters was intercepted by the Adler railway station. In September and October 2017, the maximum volume of incoming traffic via Wi-Fi networks was recorded at the Samara station.

The most active city in terms of Wi-Fi consumption is expected to be Moscow (Leningradsky, Kursk, Yaroslavsky, Kazan and Paveletsky railway stations), in second place is St. Petersburg (Moscow, Baltic, Finland, Ladoga, Vitebsk railway stations). 2016: TransTeleCom provides access to wireless Internet at 107 railway stations
