DVFU: Technology of management of robotics in space

Product
Developers: Far Eastern Federal University (DVFU)
Date of the premiere of the system: 2017
Technology: Robotics

The technology of management of mobile robotics at long distances passed in 2016 test in Far Eastern Federal University (DVFU). Scientists suggest to manage robots using mini-programs which are executed in the automatic mode using intelligent systems. Such technology will allow to solve a problem of a delay of signals by their transfer on long distances and to ensure stabler functioning of robotics, for example, in space.

As the honored worker of science and the honored inventor of Russia told, the head of the department of automation and management of the DVFU Engineering school Vladimir Filaretov, at management of robotics in space signal delay arises because of considerable remoteness of planets from Earth.

For the solution of a task scientists suggested to manage robots not using commands in real time, and using mini-programs which the device with artificial intelligence independently implements in a standalone mode. Periodically such programs are sent to the robot again, and he also performs them, considering possible emergence of obstacles in the conditions of uncertainty. In the long term, according to authors, such approach will allow to create robots for the most remote planets, for example, Mars — now work on it worldwide.

Professor reported that within the research also tested technology of intellectual control of group of robots. In Moscow and in Vladivostok similar groups in which were selected the leading robot and slave were created. Management of them was conducted in turn from the different ends of the country: mini-programs for accomplishment of a specific mission were sent to leaders, they created tasks the conducted and carried out a task. At the same time the leader, having artificial intelligence, watched group work and adjusted tasks to those robots who had problems. After end of a task the leader transferred information to the person operator, and that depending on extent of accomplishment, sent the new program. Within testing scientists tested possibilities of artificial intelligence: capability select a trajectory, strategy, an order of the movement, coordination of the group movement.

"During the experiments there were students and graduate students of the different universities and academic institutes. It is very important for adjustment of real sci-tech cooperation of the specialists who are in different parts of our country. Using actively working scientific and educational network, we are going to expand similar experiments and to conduct them with our foreign partners" — Vladimir Filaretov emphasized.

Let's add that the staff of Institute of automatic equipment and management processes of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and Institute of applied mathematics of M.W. Keldyscha RAHN took part in testing of new technology of management of mobile robotics at long distances together with scientific DVFU.

DVFU develops the different directions of mechatronics and robotics. Students regularly participate in the international competitions in underwater robotics at which they become winners and prize-winners. Now DVFU heads the unique network consolidation more than 15 Russian and foreign universities intended for training of specialists and accomplishment of researches in the field of mechatronics, robotics and industrial automation.
