Surgutneftegas, the Russian Railway and OMK started a pilot project on a blockchain

Surgutneftegas, United Metallurgical Company (UMC) and the Russian Railway started a pilot project on use of a blockchain, the representative of Surgutneftegas in April, 2018 told TAdviser. The technology of a blockchain in this case is used in the course of delivery to Surgutneftegas of metal pipes from Vyksa Steel Works entering into OMK.

On a blockchain the magazine of audition of this process is implemented. He turns on shipment of pipes from the plant, their transportation, goods acceptance and determination whether it contains defects or not. In case of defects detection the goods go back. Transportation of pipes from the producer to the customer is performed by the Russian Railway.

Problem of a blockchain in this case - to store all information on transactions which are performed within this process in a cloud, the employee of Surgutneftegas explained TAdviser. The producer notes in a cloud that the goods are ready to shipment, from the Russian Railway the mark is entered that the goods are en route. When pipes come to Surgutneftegas, the company gives a mark about receiving. If in goods defects are detected, the mark about it is also brought in a blockchain cloud that to send pipes back. Certificates of products are stored in a cloud.

Among solutions in the project SAP Leonardo Blockchain and SAP Cloud Platform, the user interface - SAP Fiori are used.

The senior architect of business solutions of the oil and gas industry of the Center of SAP expertize of the CIS Igor Evstratov noted that at the expense of a blockchain and this case the audit problem, control of a counterfeit is solved. At any moment it is possible to lift information on operations which were performed with this or that pipe and at the level of Surgutneftegas, and at the level of the supplier and logistics.

The technology of a blockchain ensures safety and transparency of transactions: due to use of the distributed register of record in it it is impossible to change backdating, the employee of Surgutneftegas noted in a conversation with TAdviser. In addition, the solution on a blockchain was the most economic of all considered, he added.

About a pilot project on a blockchain between "one large oil company and the producer of pipes for this oil company" the CEO of SAP CIS Natalia Parmenova told on the same day. She purposefully did not begin to mention company names, but, apparently, meant the project of Surgutneftegas and OMK.

Probably, the pilot who now is well moving most ahead is our cooperation between one large oil company and the producer of pipes for this oil company, - Parmenova reported. - Between these two companies we build a single platform on a blockchain to control process of use of these pipes and that producers could control usage modes.

According to Igor Evstratov, participants pilot a blockchain project in Surgutneftegas, including SAP CIS, acted as the uniform working group, and other oil and gas and metallurgical companies to creation of uniform electronic platform in which the blockchain would be involved are going to invite. In addition to pipes the similar technology can be extended also to other products. On uniform electronic platform certificates of different products could be stored, and also procurement, financial and other procedures between suppliers and customers of products could be implemented, Igor Evstratov explained.
