Chromebook 512 (C851/C851T)

On January 23, 2019, Acer introduced 12-inch Chromebooks: Acer Chromebook Spin 512 and Chromebook 512. The devices are designed for the field of education. Acer Chromebooks are equipped with displays with an aspect ratio of 3:2 and are distinguished by design strength, which expands the possibilities of their use in study, the manufacturer believes.

The Acer Chromebook 512 (C851/C851T) features the traditional design for a laptop with a touchscreen and conventional screen.

According to the manufacturer's statement, the Acer Chromebook 512 meets the strict US military standards MIL-STD 810G and can withstand a drop from a height of up to 122 cm (48 inches) and a load of up to 60 kg (132 pounds) thanks to a reinforced design and shock absorbing bumper. Acer Chromebook is also designed for young children: it is certified for compliance with two safety standards for toys - ASTM F963-16 and UL/IEC 60950-1. The moisture-resistant keyboard is equipped with a drainage system that removes water from the internal components and leads it through the lower part of the body, it is not afraid of 330 ml (11 ounces) of spilled water. Touch panels are also protected from moisture.

The Acer Chromebook 512 is equipped with a 3:2 aspect ratio display, which increases vertical space by 18% compared to a 16:9 display with the same diagonal. As a result, according to the manufacturer, students see more information, maps, photos and school tasks on one screen. The resolution of the 12-inch HD + display with IPS technology is 1366 x 912 pixels.

The Chromebook 512 can be opened 180 degrees, placed horizontally on the table and used with other students during classes or during school projects. Models with a touch and conventional display will go on sale. The Chromebook 512 is also equipped with mechanically fixed keys that are both difficult to break down and easy to replace, making the device suitable for use in school settings, Acer believes.

The Chromebook 512 features an optional 5-megapixel camera. Thus, students will be able to shoot images and videos for school projects. Students can also communicate in video chats and Google Hangouts using the Acer HD webcam located above the display, Acer noted.

According to the manufacturer, Acer Chromebook 512 provides long battery life, up to 12 hours. The eighth generation Intel Pentium Silver N5000 processor or quad-core Intel Celeron N4100 processor gives the device great performance throughout the school day. The Chromebook 512 can be equipped with a dual-core Intel Celeron N4000 processor.

According to the manufacturer, the owners of the device will get a fast and stable connection to the Internet using Intel Gigabit WiFi 2x2 802.11ac MU-MIMO technology. Peripherals can be connected via Bluetooth 4.2 or two first-generation USB 3.1 Type-C ports, which can also be used to charge both the device itself and external devices, quickly transfer data at speeds up to 5 Gb/s and connect an HD display. In addition, the Chromebook is equipped with two USB 3.0 ports.

IT administrators will be able to update their device, configure applications, use extensions, and more with web management that simplifies Chromebook configuration and management. Kensington locks will ensure the safety of devices during storage and operation. Information security of trainees will ensure automatic update of Chrome OS. Acer Chrome devices support multiple users, each student can log into their account to ensure the security of projects, Gmail and other information, even if the Chromebook is lost or stolen. Storing data on the Disk Google protects files, documents and photos in the cloud and guarantees access to their latest versions, say Acer. Chromebooks also support Google Play at startup.

According to Acer, the Chromebook 512 (C851/C851T) in variants with 32 GB or 64 GB of eMMC storage and 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM will be available to customers from business and education in North America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Exact characteristics, prices and availability depend on the region.

Chromebook 315 (CB315-2HT/CB315-2H)

On January 7, 2019, Acer introduced a 15.6-inch Chromebook based on AMD. Thanks to the seventh generation AMD A6-9220C or A4-9120C processors and Radeon graphics card, the laptop can accelerate in applications with increased requirements while simultaneously running several tabs and software extensions throughout the battery life, which is up to 10 hours.

In addition to performance, the Acer Chromebook 315 features a 15.6-inch full HD screen with an IPS array, which improves notebook performance. It dynamically displays streaming video, web games and applications and is available in touch and conventional screen configurations (CB315-2HT/CB315-2H).

Acer Chromebook 514 with Full HD IPS Display

On August 29, 2018, the company Acer announced laptop Chromebook 514. The device, according to the developer, is reliable and durable. A strong metal body is protected from deformation, bends and dents, and a narrow 6 mm frame allows you to reduce the size of the device, while retaining the diagonal of the screen 14 inches. Wide viewing angles and Full HD (1920x1080 pixels) IPS display resolution allow users to view high-quality movies, television shows and other videos. Optionally available touchscreen simplifies navigation and control.

According to the developer, Chrome OS is distinguished by fast loading, easy to use, security and 12-hour standalone operation. Fast start-up, simplified interface, integrated anti-malware protection, and efficient power usage ensure that users can enjoy a stable daily experience without having to recharge the device. The Chrome OS operating system allows you to install office software - Microsoft Office, Skype and other programs that have the appropriate versions.

Control using the touch panel - pressing, scrolling and scaling - has become, according to the developer, smoother. Corning Gorilla coating provides a feeling of greater smoothness and is protected from scratches and damage.

The HDR-mode webcam provides clarity in a vivid and detailed image. Day and night keyboard illumination modes allow users to comfortably type texts in conditions of low light, the developer claims.

A single connector is used for fast data transfer, streaming video and charging the battery. Reversible USB 3.1 Type-C ports are easy to use, data transfer speed reaches 5 Gb/s, Acer noted.

Announcing the first Acer chromebooks for business (Chromebook Spin 13 and Chromebook 13)

May 23, 2018 Acer introduced the first laptop computers in its range on a platform Chrome OS for corporate customers. The device is compatible with the Wacom EMR stylus and runs on the Intel Core i5-8250U processor (in maximum configuration). The maximum available fixed memory capacity is 128 GB.

Both chromebooks are dressed in an aluminum case and have the same dimensions and weight (about 1.6 kg). The thickness of the devices is 17 mm. In addition, the technical equipment of the novelties included USB 3.1 Type-C ports  (for data transfer and recharging) and USB 3.0, a slot for microSD memory cards, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.2 wireless modules, a touchpad with Corning Gorilla Glass protective glass.

Computers can be expanded by connecting them to a special USB-Type-C Dock  II dock, which turns a laptop into a powerful workstation.

Sales of the Acer Chromebook Spin 13 and Chromebook 13 will begin later in 2018. The cost of products at the time of announcement is not called.[1]
