2019: Announcement

At the beginning of November, 2019 "KAMAZ" provided the first commercial unmanned vehicle. At first it will transport loads across the territory of industrial facilities.

The robotic truck is created based on the NEO KAMAZ-5490 model with the assistance of VIST Group company and Kazakhstan Nazarbayev Universiteta.

KAMAZ provided the first commercial unmanned vehicle.

At the first stage which was directed by VIST Group company the car was partially converted and prepared for the autonomous movement. It was equipped with lidars, radars and the system of positioning.

At the second stage of the project specialists Nazarbayev Universiteta which added the system of computer vision using which the UAV can distinguish people, animal were connected to completion of the tractor, road barriers and independently to rebuild a route taking into account need to go round these obstacles.

The car was tested in the territory of the innovation center Skolkovo.

By the beginning of November, 2019 the cargo KAMAZ UAV Nazarbayev of the university to which transferred the machine to temporary free use for a period of 12 months passes the last tests for territories.

Terms of the beginning of sales of the car are not called. It is noted only that it is ready to use on industrial facilities, and about an exit to public roads the speech does not go. Also it is going to use robotic tractors for program implementation of digitalization of the enterprises of "KamAZ".

Earlier in "KamAZ" made experiments with creation of unmanned vehicles, but case did not reach commercial products. In 2018 the company provided "KAMAZ-1221 Shatl", equipped with the rechargeable battery with a capacity of 35 kilowatt-hours and an electric motor return of 130 horsepowers. According to the statement of the producer the electric vehicle can accelerate up to 110 km/h.[1]
