Roshydromet begins large-scale digital transformation and creates the IT system of monitoring of the environment

2020: The agreement on creation of the complex IC of condition monitoring of the environment in Russia

The Federal Hydrometeorology Service for Environmental Monitoring (Roshydromet) and State Corporation Rostec are going to create jointly an end-to-end information system of condition monitoring of the environment in the territory of the Russian Federation. The relevant agreement was signed on August 24, 2020 by the deputy CEO of Rostec Alexander Nazarov and the head of Roshydromet Igor Shumakov.

According to the document, cooperation between department and State corporation is aimed at the development of digital services, platforms and the systems of Roshydromet and also their integration with other federal, regional and private information systems. Formation of a uniform digital ecosystem in the spheres which are within the competence of state structure should become result of this work. Development of customer-oriented private digital platforms and services will become one of the priority directions of cooperation.

"Hydrometeorology – a high-tech industry of science. It is sure that cooperation with Rostec will help to arrange production of reliable and functional hydrometeorological devices and digital solutions using domestic technologies. It will become an important step in import substitution development", − the head of Roshydromet Igor Shumakov at a signing ceremony said. According to him, work within the agreement will allow to execute order of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin about creation and development of an end-to-end system of monitoring of the environment regarding powers of Roshydromet.

Rostec will carry out digital transformation of hydrometeorological service

Roshydromet and Rostec are also going to raise jointly additional public and private resources for joint financing of developments and implementation of new types of the equipment, measuring instruments, collecting, processing, storage, transfer of hydrometeorological data, information on a status and environmental pollution.

"In Rostec the extensive experience of cooperation with state structures in implementation of modern digital solutions is accumulated. Use of domestic technologies and scientific developments of State corporation will allow to solve problems of digital transformation of hydrometeorological service. It will promote finally increase in efficiency of actions within national projects", – the deputy CEO of Rostec Alexander Nazarov considers.

As it was reported earlier, KRET holding (enters into State Corporation Rostec) began to supply to Roshydromet the equipment of the next generation for radio sounding of the atmosphere. The Polyus-S system allows to increase weather forecasting accuracy twice. Development is intended not only for obtaining meteorological information (temperature, humidity, pressure, the direction and wind speed), but also for measurement of special parameters: radiation, level of industrial gas blowouts, aerosols. Roshydromet within the agreement between equipment manufacturer and Federal State Budgetary Institution Gidrometservice already began to equip with these systems the meteorological stations.
