The Google company developed service according to the notification about earthquakes. It became known on September 22, 2020.
Using the Earthquake Alerts System system phone from mobile operating system Android can become a mini-seismometer. After an earthquake in Los Angeles Google shared visualization of what was detected smartphones.
The vice president for development of Android Dave Burke posted on the twitter video on which are imprinted Los Angeles and its neighborhoods right after an earthquake measuring 4.5 points. Yellow and red points are locations of P and S waves which are used by seismologists for early detection of earthquakes. The accelerometer of smartphones is capable to detect an initial wave. When it occurs, phone will send the general location to the server of detection of earthquakes of Google.
Google added to Android this service in August, 2020. So far notifications work only for users from California. Google obtains data from 700 seismometers and in advance warns users about pushes[1].
