In mid-April 2021, it became known about the beginning of the use of the first self-driving car based on the Lada Vesta station wagon in the City Clinical Hospital Number 1 named after N.I. Pirogov in Moscow. The drone was developed by scientists from the MosTransProject Research Institute along with colleagues from MADI. The sedan passed all the necessary tests and received a certificate.

According to the official portal of the mayor of Moscow, a domestic drone will deliver patient tests between different buildings. The Moscow Department of Transport clarifies that the launch of this project will allow doctors of the First City to spend more time with patients. Before the Lada Vesta, the unmanned Ford Focus performed a similar function, but they decided to change it to the Russian model.

Judging by the photographs, the domestic station wagon with an autopilot was equipped with special equipment, warning inscriptions and stickers on the body, a sign "A" on the rear window.

The program of pilot testing of self-driving machines at city sites in Moscow has been held since 2019. By mid-April 2021, more than 50 projects were tested, another 30 are being tested.

In Moscow, their own autonomous technologies are being tested, for example, by Yandex and Sberavtotech. However, their prototypes are based on cars of foreign brands, mainly Hyundai and Kia.

Earlier, the government approved a set of measures for the phased commissioning of unmanned vehicles without insurance of a test engineer in the cabin. Testing on public roads will begin in 2021.[1]

As it became known on October 19, 2020, on the territory of the First City Hospital named after Pirogov in Moscow, an unmanned vehicle was launched to deliver goods between the hulls.

According to the Moscow Department of Transport, a self-driving machine based on the Ford Focus hatchback was developed with the participation of the Moscow Road Institute (MADI), launched the MosTransProject Research Institute together with the Moscow Innovation Agency. The car will be involved in the delivery of drugs and tests, which, as noted in the department, will help doctors avoid contacts with dangerous objects and substances.

The Institute's specialists developed a road traffic management plan for the hospital, and also created a "digital double" of the route, which was introduced into the car. Experience shows that drones can work successfully - the first unmanned car has been driving in the city center for six months and controls more than a thousand cars daily, the Moscow Department of Transport said.

The head of Mostransproekt, Alexander Polyakov, said that the idea of ​ ​ the project appeared during the restrictions due to coronavirus, and COVID-19 now the knowledge gained can be applied to help doctors.

This is not the first unmanned car developed by MADI, which works in the city. So, in the spring of 2020, an unmanned Ford Focus was launched in the capital, which controls compliance with parking rules in the Basmanny district of Moscow. Its route passes through Potapovsky, Cherchkov, Armenian and Krivokolenny lanes. A car with automatic control runs in the city center for six months and monitors the parking of more than 1 thousand cars daily.[2]
