History

2020: Palo Alto Networks purchased Expanse for $800 million

On November 11, 2020 Palo Alto Networks announced acquisition of Expanse company. The transaction on sale of the developer of solutions for the analysis of weak spots in IT systems of the companies and ensuring protection in a cyberspace is estimated at $800 million, calculation will be performed by money ($670 million) and securities ($130 million) of the buyer.

Palo Alto Networks is going to integrate the solution Expanse with the Cortex platform which represents the tool kit based on artificial intelligence intended for detection and prevention of cyber attacks in the automatic mode. Expanse will provide to Palo Alto Networks valuable practices for AI models.

Palo Alto Networks purchased the developer of solutions for the analysis of cyberthreats of Expanse for $800 million

Are a control panel for detection a part of the Expanse platform and monitoring of Internet resources, the software for control of suspicious network activity and the analysis of traffic, the API set and tools for integration into IT infrastructure.

The CEO of Palo Alto Networks Nikesh Arora noted:

Thanks to integration of solutions of Expanse as regards assessment of a surface of the attack with Cortex we will be able to propose to clients the first solution combining the overview of a surface of the attack and pro-active response to cyberthreats.

After completion of the transaction co-founders of Expanse - the CEO Tim Junio and the technical director Matt Kraning - will join the Palo Alto Networks group.[1]
