2021: Palo Alto Networks bought Bridgecrew for $156 million
In mid-February 2021, Palo Alto Networks announced the acquisition of Bridgecrew, an Israeli solution developer for automating the protection of cloud infrastructure. The deal is estimated at $156 million, it is expected that it will be completed by the end of April 2021.
According to Palo Alto Networks, the deal will allow the company to provide developers with opportunities to evaluate security and ensure compliance throughout the DevOps process. All three co-founders of Bridgecrew - CEO Idan Tendler, Technical Director Barack Schoster and Vice President of Products Guy Eisenkot, as well as the entire startup team will join Palo Alto Networks.
Bridgecrew's main product is the platform of the same name for automating the protection of cloud services, its functionality allows you to monitor the state of enterprise networks at different levels, as well as automatically solve problems discovered. Users of this platform are AWS and Google Cloud.
Another startup product is the open-source Checkov error scanner, which provides security for cloud infrastructures based on Terraform, Cloudformation, Kubernetes, as well as ARM templates and the Serverless framework. According to Bridgecrew, it has more than 1 million downloads (by February 2021).
Bridgecrew focuses on using the "left shift" security testing model. Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora noted that the entire development team would appreciate the ability to fix problems early in the development lifecycle.[1]
