2021: 7-year sentence
In April 2021, Cherkalin was sentenced to 7 years in prison. Two of them he had already served during the investigation.
2024: Release from Prison
On October 14, 2024, it became known about the release of Kirill Cherkalin from prison. The former head of the "K" department of the economic security service (SEB) of the FSB of Russia was serving a sentence for receiving a bribe in the amount of $850 thousand.
According to Izvestia, earlier Cherkalin was replaced by correctional labor serving his sentence in the colony, later he achieved the replacement of correctional labor with a fine of 500 thousand rubles.
