2022: Completion of the translation of the automated technical documentation management system to EDS 3.0

JSC Concern Rosenergoatom, together with the IT company CROC, completed a project to migrate the automated technical documentation management system (APCS) to a domestic solution. This was announced by CROC on December 22, 2022.

The system is designed to systematize and simplify the processes of working with technical documentation at nuclear power plants (branches of Rosenergoatom) throughout the country. The result of the project was a complete transfer of historical APCS based on OpenText Documentum to an ECM system based on KSED 3.0 from the register of Russian software.

APCS is designed to control the processes of creating, maintaining, storing and providing up-to-date technical documentation throughout the life cycle of the facility. It automates the procedures for maintaining a unified classification of technical documentation, ensures the guaranteed relevance of electronic copies with the ability to semantic search for documents.

The APCS also monitors the planned and actual dates for the approval of the documentation, its revision and reissue, generates lists of documents of subdivisions, keeps records of the storage of original documents and the issuance of copies. All this ensures the constant relevance of documents and the transparency of their change.

The migration process fully preserved the accumulated content and all the functionality of the system, including integration with 17 information systems of the Concern. The CROC team transferred about 5 million documents to it, as well as tasks created in the previous version of the APCS, which ultimately amounted to about 30 terabytes of data. In addition, the project has developed additional modules for working with other types of technical documentation. As of December 2022, the APCS employs about 32 thousand employees at 14 facilities of the Concern. The system is included in the Register of Russian software.

The focus of the company's attention is aimed at transferring the main information systems to domestic software. All these projects will reduce technological dependence on foreign software. The task is to minimize sanctions risks and ensure continuity of processes,
noted Oleg Shalnov, Director of the IT Projects and Integration Management Department of Concern Rosenergoatom JSC.

The result of a large-scale project is not only migration to a domestic solution, but also an improvement in the functionality of the system. The architecture of the previous version of the APCS was distributed, that is, its individual installations were actually located in the contour of business objects and interacted through exchange protocols. Now the concern has a centralized system, which greatly simplifies the support of end-to-end processes between enterprises. The results of a long-standing partnership with Rosenergoatom show that CROC is an enterprise partner capable of introducing recommendations and current options for solving problems within the project,
said Vasily Mukhin, director of the Electronic Document Management department of the CROC IT company.

2021: Transfer of the Automated Technical Documentation Management System to EDS 3.0

On January 26, 2022, CROC announced that Concern Rosenergoatom JSC is implementing import substitution of the Automated Technical Documentation Management System (APCS), designed to manage the processes of development, maintenance, storage and provision of up-to-date technical documentation throughout the life cycle of the facility. The IT company CROC was chosen as the contractor, which in 2011 carried out the development of the system, and then carried out its modernization and technical support.

APCS is designed to systematize and simplify the processes of working with technical documentation (TD) at nuclear power plants of Rosenergoatom Concern JSC throughout the country. As of January 2022, there are more than 11 system implementation facilities, which implies a large amount of relevant documentation - about 30 terabytes of data.

APCS allows employees of the concern to have constant access to up-to-date technical documentation in electronic form, which is necessary for daily tasks. This is ensured not only by the storage of TDs: the system automates the procedures for maintaining a unified classification of TDs and providing access to the current TD of employees throughout the company's business, helps to ensure the guaranteed relevance of electronic copies with the ability to semantic search, as well as search for attribute information and text TD. APCS also monitors the planned and actual dates for the approval of the documentation, its revision and reissue, generates lists of documents of departments and at specific workplaces, keeps records of the storage of original documents and tracking of issued copies on paper. All this ensures the constant relevance of documents and the transparency of their change.

The CROC specialists developed the first version of the solution based on OpenText Documentum with significant adaptations and refinements of the product. However, the system will now be transferred to ECM the -system based on KSED 3.0 from. register of domestic software In addition to solving a large range of problems, the product on ESD 3.0, due to open, API allows you to perform integration with the customer's information systems, providing the opportunity to work with users with any set data and type content in a single space. During the migration process, CROC specialists will retain the accumulated content and all functionality of the system, updating it in accordance with the changed customer requests, as well as develop additional modules for working with new types of technical documentation.

The IT import substitution program at Rosenergoatom is developing at a very fast pace. We started with import substitution of the operating system and were one of the first to transfer our users to Astra Linux. Now in the active phase of implementation there are several projects for import substitution of corporate systems. All these projects are aimed at reducing technological dependence on foreign software and reducing the risks of sanctions pressure. Our task is to minimize these risks and ensure the continuity of our processes - said Oleg Shalnov, Director of the IT Project Management and Integration Department of Concern Rosenergoatom JSC.

In January 2022, the fourth stage of the APCS project was completed, within the framework of which the system architecture, basic functionality and a number of key functional modules were developed and implemented. Earlier, CROC experts developed a general system concept, revised more than 15 volumes of existing design solutions, and developed design solutions for new functional modules. The next stages will be completed in 2022 with the introduction of the system.

Such large-scale work will allow not only import substitution, but also to improve the functionality of the system and supplement it with a number of advantages. In addition, the customer decided to move away from the distributed system when its individual installations are actually located in the contour of business objects and interact through exchange protocols. The updated version of the APCS will be centralized, which will greatly simplify the support of end-to-end processes between customer enterprises, and also involves a new flexible interface of the web application at a qualitatively different level. Within the framework of the project, we maintain the integration of the APCS with more than 20 internal information systems of the customer. Our long-standing partnership helps CROC to prove itself not as a performer, but as a business partner who can bring valuable recommendations and the most relevant options for solving problems within the project, "said Ivan Rubtsov, Deputy General Director for Key Customers of CROC.
