2022: Implementation of the Smart Helmet Monitoring System
Rostelecom and Divo completed the Smart Helmet pilot project at the Ust-Kar Mine, located in the Sretensky district of the Trans-Baikal Territory. The monitoring system was deployed in the mechanical workshop of the enterprise, which is responsible for servicing special equipment. The purpose of the project was to test a tool for monitoring industrial safety and labor discipline. This was announced on February 25, 2022 by Rostelecom.
Smart Helmet helps reduce risks on production and solve several problems at once, including labor discipline control, labor protection and industrial safety. The personal protective device includes integrated an electronic module with a set of sensors and special devices that collect information information about the location, level of activity and state of the employee. For example, in a smart helmet there is a pressure and volume sensor, a device/, GPSGLONASS a gyroscope, GSM a module and a device. " accelerometer Smart helmet" notifies of emergencies, accidents and incidents. The smart device fixes the helmet wear or not, transmits a signal to the dispatcher in the event of a worker falling or receiving a blow, monitors the location of people in the open space and determines with accuracy up to a second time being in the restricted zone.
At the end of February 2022, Priisk Ust-Kara has 150 pieces of earth-moving equipment: medium and heavy bulldozers, dump trucks, excavators, loaders, as well as cars intended for transporting goods and transporting workers. According to the company's management, work in the mechanical workshop is ongoing. Ensuring the uninterrupted operation of gold mining sites and the final financial result depend on the serviceability and quick restoration of machines and vehicles.
"We care not only about technical re-equipment, but also about optimizing the business processes of production, so we decided to test the smart helmet. The results of the pilot project are pleased: according to the results of testing, we managed to increase the safety culture and labor discipline. In the final reports, downtime and deviations from the general schedule are clearly visible, we saw the labor load of each employee, "- says Valery Kotelnikov, General Director of the Ust-Kara Mine. |
The launch of the project became possible after the completion of the construction of an optical communication line with a length of more than 100 km. In 2021, Rostelecom provided high-speed Internet to the enterprise's office in the miner's village of Ust-Karsk.

= notes Andrey Zdarov, director of the Buryat branch of Rostelecom.|Rostelecom has quite a lot of experience working with mining enterprises in Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory. We build optical communication lines, on the basis of the created infrastructure we connect
video surveillance, virtual telephone exchange, virtual data center and other services, including the Smart Helmet employee security system. It can be developed taking into account the specifics and needs of each enterprise, "-}}
"The digital service has already helped several enterprises solve the problem of losing working time. Typically, the timesheet is maintained manually or through an access control and control system that determines when a worker enters and exits a building or area. Using the monitoring system, the manager receives an independent automatically formed time sheet, can view the load, redistribute it, and compile a rating of employees by labor discipline. The pilot project conducted at the Ust-Kar Mine once again clearly demonstrated the operability of the Smart Helmet positioning system at mining enterprises, "- says Alexander Blyablin, commercial director of Diva. |
