2022: Development of a solution to automate the accounting of waste entering landfills

The researchers from Perm Polytechnic Perm GATU named after Academician D.N. Pryanishnikov and proposed a way to automate the accounting of incoming landfills. In the waste process of waste disposal, bio-degradation products are formed at MSW landfills: filtrate and landfill gas, which negatively affect the biosphere and. health population The software package that the researchers create will allow monitoring the filtrate and, emissions of gases determine the load of landfills and track the dynamics of their filling. This was announced on May 5, 2022 Perm by Polytech.

The results of the study, scientists published in the journal IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science. They developed an optimized automated workplace for the operator using the example of one of the MSW landfills in the Perm Territory

"At the beginning of May 2022, the workplace of the MSW landfill operator was equipped only with electronic scales on which garbage trucks are weighed. Our development includes automobile scales,, video recording system car unit recognitions and control system. database The software complex will be able to video the entry of a garbage truck, measure its weight in a loaded and empty state. define license plates and control the barrier Automation of processes will allow for autonomous operation of equipment, "-

says one of the developers, professor of the Department of Information Technologies and Automated Systems of the Perm Polytechnic, doctor of technical sciences, associate professor Sergey Kostarev.

The development of Perm scientists will increase the productivity of employees of MSW landfills and promptly send data to environmental organizations. Specialists will also be able to receive information using sensors that will display the state of the parameters of the waste array.

"Due to the control of processes flowing in the body of the landfill, automated monitoring of landfill gas emissions takes place. To track along the perimeter of the sanitary protection zone of the MSW landfill, we propose to install gas analyzer sensors for the main components of this gas, signals from which will be transmitted to the operator's screen, "-

explains the researcher.

With the help of the software complex, it will also be possible to predict the consumption and quality of filtrate and landfill gas. Scientists made a numerical calculation of the emission flow of landfill gas using the Ansys program. To determine the size of the sanitary protection zone, they used the results obtained using the unified program for calculating atmospheric pollution (UPRZA) "ECOcenter."

According to scientists, the development will also solve the problem of preventing fires at MSW landfills. In addition, the system will be able to keep records of landfills and organizations that export waste from housing and infrastructure.

To create the program, researchers from Perm Polytechnic built a diagram of the states and transitions of the operator's automated workplace. They also developed logical equations that describe an algorithm for the operation of equipment. The researchers compiled a ladder diagram for logic controller programming based on the international standard IEC 61131-3, and implemented the automated control system using the OMRON programmable controller CP1L and the operator panel on the NT21 touch display.
