2022: Switch to Electronic Drawings for Spare Parts
On May 30, 2022, ASCON announced that the EVRAZ NTMK Metallurgical Plant had switched to the use of electronic design and technological documentation in the manufacture of spare parts, abandoning paper media. As of May 2022, all technical documentation is formed in a single information system and sent electronically to the machine tool workplace. Thanks to the digitalization project, the company will reduce the use of paper by almost 7 tons annually, as well as improve the quality of spare parts.
According to the company, the Pilot-ICE Enterprise drawing and documentation management information system was implemented together with ASCON. When ordering a part, a complete set of electronic design and process documentation for its manufacture is formed, which is transmitted to the machine tool monitor in the workshop. When manufacturing a part, the machine tool loads not only the documentation and the associated drawing, but also sees which workpiece was used for its production, what operations were previously carried out with it.
The introduction of a unified system ensures the absence of scrap during the manufacture of spare parts, allows you to significantly optimize the speed and quality of restoration and repair of worn-out units and parts of the main production equipment.
The choice of technical solution was based on software products already implemented at EVRAZ NTMK. Design documentation, process maps were prepared at EVRAZ NTMK in the domestic COMPAS-3D and VERTICAL programs for several years. Their integration into a single system made it possible to completely switch from paper media to individual displays in each workshop. said Alexey Nedoluga, chief mechanic of EVRAZ NTMK |
We have developed a design solution that meets the expectations of the customer 100%, with the possibility of renewal and development. The success of the project is largely determined by the attention and personal participation of managers and management engineers of the chief mechanic of EVRAZ NTMK, accurate setting of the task on their part and constant contact with the IT team. Thanks to the coordinated work of the entire team, the project was implemented in 4 months. said Natalya Kern, technical director of ASCON Urals |
