Replication of Axelot WOS X5 in three more warehouses in the Krasnodar Territory
On March 10, 2023, AXELOT announced that with the help of AXELOT WOS X5 "Uncle Vanya" automated business processes in three warehouses at once in the production of canned products. The AXELOT project team completed a phased launch to meet the deadline and be in time before the start of the 2023 season.
Uncle Vanya is developing warehouse logistics together with AXELOT. The company's distribution center was automated using AXELOT WMS X5, and in 2022 AXELOT WOS X5 was introduced at the finished product warehouse at a canning enterprise in the Krasnodar Territory. The reason for choosing this particular solution for automation is the relatively small area of warehouses and simple processes for which the implementation of a full-fledged WMS system would be redundant. The company's management quickly assessed the simplicity and effectiveness of the solution and almost immediately began preparations for its replication. It was completed in early 2023 - the AXELOT WOS X5 system has now been implemented in three more warehouses of the company.
All sites where AXELOT WOS was replicated are located in the Krasnodar Territory not far from each other and from the already automated warehouse of finished products.
- The factory warehouse has several separate rooms for storing finished products and semi-finished products with a dedicated room for off-spec products. Floor stacking storage of products on pallets is used here.
- The warehouse of raw materials and materials, in addition to the closed room with front racks and floor storage, has an open area.
- The spare parts warehouse is located quite close to the raw materials warehouse. Floor storage is used here, as well as storage on the front racks.
The goals of the system implementation were similar to those set as part of the pilot project. For all its functional "simplicity," the system made it possible to increase productivity and economic efficiency by controlling the shipment of goods according to the FEFO rule, taking into account the requirements of counterparties for the residual shelf life and by reducing the impact of the human factor.
When replicating, it was important to meet the set deadlines so that the 2023 season "Uncle Vanya" would open with automated warehouses ready for increased load. To speed up the process, the start-up was carried out in one step with the minimum required adaptation delay at each site: the next warehouse was launched 3-4 days after the previous one. This made it possible not to spray the efforts of the project teams and focus on faster and better performance of tasks within each site. As a result, it took only two weeks to launch all three warehouses.
AXELOT WOS X5 was integrated with enterprise information systems, the integration loop is configured with DATAREON ESB. Now, in three more warehouses of the Uncle Vanya group of companies, thanks to the implementation of AXELOT WOS X5, commodity processing operations are automated. All four warehouses work in the same system installation, while employees see and work only with documents and tasks of their warehouse.
The system records the exact location of the item and monitors the fact that the tasks have been completed by employees. To find the right product, employees no longer need to rely on memory - AXELOT WOS X5 provides them with information about the location of products with a suitable residual shelf life for selection.
Axelot WOS X5 Warehouse Implementation
AXELOT announced on June 17, 2022, the introduction of AXELOT WMS X5 at one of its Uncle Vanya warehouses. A large warehouse site required complete automation of all processes, and AXELOT's WMS did an excellent job.
But it is not always advisable to implement a full-fledged WMS. And for the warehouse at the canning enterprise in the Krasnodar Territory, the company's management, taking into account expert recommendations and complicated trends in the classification of warehouse management systems, chose the system "easier." The key in deciding to implement AXELOT WOS X5 was the system maximally matched the needs of a small warehouse in production, which made it possible not only to solve automation issues, but also to ensure the growth of its economic efficiency.
The main goal of the introduction of AXELOT WOS X5 was the need to prevent "delay": despite the long shelf life, this functionality remains one of the most popular. Accordingly, it was necessary to ensure shelf life control in the warehouse and organize work on the FEFO principle so that goods were shipped from the warehouse, first of all, with the worst shelf life. For a number of counterparties who have their own requirements for the remaining shelf life, the shipment is made in accordance with these deadlines. To be in time before the season, the preparation and launch of the system took place in an accelerated mode. Despite this, AXELOT specialists met the deadlines and automated the process of processing cargo traffic at all stages of movement, from acceptance to shipment. The project team configured the communication between AXELOT WOS X5 and the two enterprise systems. DATAREON ESB data bus helped to form a single information landscape of the enterprise.
During the project, targeted storage was organized at the warehouse. Since AXELOT WOS X5 does not have the task planning processes inherent in WMS class systems, the decision to select a cell for placement or for selection of goods is made directly by the executor. The system is used to record the fact of completed tasks, as well as to inform about suitable places where a similar product is listed during placement, and where the required product is listed during selection by order.
After the implementation of WOS, warehouse employees take much less time to select goods for an order, and it is no longer necessary to assign a certain commodity group to employees. The functionality of AXELOT WOS X5 allows you to track the shelf life of products, as well as comply with the FEFO principle and recommend the product for selection in the order of priority from production. The customer expressed the desire to use paper technology as the main one, with parallel recording of all information in the system. This possibility was realized, in the future it will avoid warehouse downtime in case of unforeseen situations. Despite its "compact" functionality, the AXELOT WOS X5 system helped automate warehouse operations during production and manages all key processes. The management of Uncle Vanya appreciated the simplicity and effectiveness of the developed solution, so preparations are already underway for its replication at other production sites.
