2022: Building a fault-tolerant infrastructure based on Softline Cloud

Network DIY hypermarkets "AKSON" built a fault-tolerant on clouds Softline the basis. infrastructure This not only resolved the problem of unstable operation IT of the systems, but also reduced the company's costs for. information technology

The network of construction stores "Akson" is represented in several regions with a central office in Moscow. The company's management regularly faced business downtime due to the instability of IT systems. The infrastructure of each store was scattered and worked autonomously, there were regular failures and malfunctions.

Management was complicated by the wide geography of store locations, control of employees and infrastructure "on the ground" was vulnerable. At the same time, the maintenance of a large staff of support and outsourcing, malfunctions also led to losses and reputational losses. The damage was measured in millions of rubles of lost profit monthly.

Softline Cloud specialists faced a simple, at first glance, task - a complete migration of infrastructure from hardware to the cloud. However, the difficulty was that the chain of construction stores is represented in several regions with a main office in Moscow.

The centralization of information from all points of sale in one location in Moscow helped to solve the problem. When information systems are assembled in one place, it is easier to manage, protect, process, and analyze data.

To implement the project, the Softline team chose the laaS model, which is a reliable cloud solution. The migration process was seamless and lasted about 6 months without stopping the business, all retail outlets worked as usual. Softline Cloud specialists brought all computing power to the cloud infrastructure, organized a single point of network infrastructure management with redundant connections.

Thus, each branch migrated to the cloud. The provider conducted a communication channel directly, without joints. At the moment, the entire IT infrastructure of the company has been brought to the cloud: from document management and e-mail to 1C services and business analytics. In total, 18 stores are connected to Softline Cloud, as well as the company's offices.

Thanks to the Softline team, AKSON holding achieved a 60% cost reduction and gained centralized control over the entire chain of stores. If earlier a large staff of IT specialists was required to manage and solve problems and outsourced personnel, then in August 2022 everything is managed by a remote central office. The retailer also has no need to purchase and maintain a large amount of equipment. The cloud solution works stably and without interruptions, and the downtime is only 0.1%.

The Softline Cloud solution suited us optimally, both in terms of technical parameters and price. The company's specialists were distinguished by high competence and resourcefulness in the implementation of the project. Whatever question arose, we were offered several solution options at once, which indicates the high versatility of the team. Also, the next steps to minimize costs and points of failure are the introduction of thin clients - autonomous minimum stations to perform the necessary functionality. At the moment, the level of technology development makes it possible to choose solutions for increasing the availability of business processes, improving security and resiliency - what is necessary for doing business with minimal costs and developing the company by implementing solutions and implementing updated projects.

This project is an example of the evolution of approaches from a standard network topology, in which a separate computing node is formed in each location, which periodically uploads to the main base, to an approach where all calculations and data are stored in one place, and sales points are places of input/output of information, which allows you to have always up-to-date information and continuous operation due to duplication of communication channels,

The Company provides expert technical support. In addition, the Disaster recovery system is planned to be tested and launched. It is supposed to create a backup copy that is constantly replicated, while the active copy is located in the second, backup, data center. In case of problems, literally "by clicking the keys" you can switch between sites, which will ensure the disaster tolerance of the solution.
