2022: Creation of an integrated automated system based on 1S:UPP

The team of the central office of the First Bit announced on August 23, 2022 the creation of an integrated automated system based on 1S:UPP for one of the infrastructure construction professionals, Roads and Bridges JSC. It took a year and a half, from June 2020 to October 2021. A total of 2,876 jobs were automated.

The result is a single IT loop of 22 information bases based on 4 different 1C: Enterprises configurations. The team was able to implement the automatic calculation and payment of salaries of 17,000 employees, as well as the timely delivery of regulated reporting, in a short time due to the re-registration of the company.

JSC "Roads and Bridges" is a large company with 12 branches throughout the country, two own factories (in Moscow and Tula) and 17 thousand employees. As of August 2022, the company provides a full range of services in infrastructure construction: it builds and reconstructs bridges, flat infrastructure of airports, repairs highways.

Since mid-2020, the company has been reorganized - separated from PJSC MOSTOTREST into a separate business unit. To do this, she needed a comprehensive enterprise management information system so that all processes could be controlled in a single environment.

The employees of the company responsible for accounting already had experience with the 1C: Manufacturing Enterprise Management system (1C: Manufacturing Enterprise Management). The concept of the future software complex was developed precisely on its basis. Considering that this typical 1C configuration corresponded as much as possible to the tasks set, they decided to take it as the basis of the future software complex.

The core of the system is 1S:UPP. For each of the 12 branches, separate nodes of the distribution information base were created, plus 2 additional ones: one for storing data about the company as a whole, the other for intercompany technical operations and centralized program updates.

1C: Consolidation is used to collect branch reports and generate general reports throughout the company. Data from the 1S:UPP is automatically included in it.

All regulatory reference information of the company is managed through a custom master data management system (MDM) built on the 1C platform. It was called the "NSI Repository."

Electronic exchange of documents takes place through "1C: Document flow." It was seamlessly integrated with the 1S:UPP.

The resulting system allows you to manage all business processes of a dispersed construction company.

Accounting for business activities and centralized reporting within the framework of RAS, IFRS, as well as established internal standards of divisions and branches are automated. Management and regulated reporting systems have become absolutely transparent, and errors due to the human factor have come to naught.

As a result of the project, branches can operate with complete and reliable data. Centralized payments and purchases are provided. The period for approving contracts and other documents was reduced to several hours, although it previously took at least three days. On average, interphile reconciliations accelerated 3-5 times, to one working day.

Work on the project began in June 2020, and ended in October 2021. For a year and a half, it took more than 56 thousand hours of working time of employees of the First Bit.

The project consisted of five stages:

  • The first was the coordination of the strategy for creating an IT circuit of Roads and Bridges JSC. It outlined the general goals of the transition to an updated integrated automated control system (IAS), identifying the tasks to be solved.
  • The second stage is the development of documentation describing the methods for transferring various data from previous company information databases, as well as scenarios for testing the future system. At the same stage, the procedure for the creation and commissioning of all IAS nodes was planned.
  • At the third stage, they adapted the configuration functionality, created mechanisms for processing, filtering, uploading and loading existing data. To do this, the tool "1C: Data Conversion 2" was used. The developers were able to automate the transfer of credentials, so the customer's side had only to double-check them.
  • Then it was necessary to prepare the infrastructure, create an initial image of the system, load historical data into it and edit it, and form work bases. At the same stage, more than 2.8 thousand jobs were connected to the system.
  • The final phase is the implementation and pilot operation of the system in all branches, as a result of which the system was gradually transferred to full industrial use.

The main difficulty was that the start of work on the project coincided with the reorganization of the business. As a result, a strict period of 3 months was set aside for the first two stages, because within 1 month after registering a new legal entity, it was necessary to calculate and pay salaries to 17 thousand employees, as well as form regulated reporting.
