2022: Cool Pi 4 Model B

The increased demand and the inability to quickly replenish stocks with the necessary volumes of products forced Raspberry Pi Trading to raise prices for single-platens for the first time in the history of its existence. So, as a result, the 2 gigabyte model RPI 4 has risen in price by almost a third - up to $45. In addition, the previously discontinued RPI 4 modification with 1 GB of RAM on board has returned to sale.

The RPI deficit continues into December 2022. In November 2022, Eben Upton, head (CEO) of Raspberry Pi Trading, said that by November 2023, all problems with replenishing product stocks will be resolved.

Cool Pi 4 is based on the eight-core Rockchip RK3588S single-chip system. SoC includes four Cortex-A76 cores at up to 2.4 GHz, four energy efficient Cortex-A55 cores (1.8 GHz).

The integrated MP4 Mali-G610 module is responsible for graphics processing. It supports OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.2, and Vulkan 1.1. GPU hardware capabilities allow decoding of video signal in 8K resolution (7680x4320) at 60 personnel per second (H.265/AVS2/VP9/H.264/AV1 codecs).

Depending on the configuration chosen, the Cool Pi 4 can be with 4GB, 8GB or 16GB of LPDDR4 standard RAM. Non-volatile memory is represented by a built-in eMMC module with a capacity of 32 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB, there is also a connector familiar to RPI 4 users for a microSD memory card. The most budget model of the eMMC module is devoid.

For image output, Cool Pi 4 offers Micro HDMI 2.1 (resolution up to 8K at 60 personnel per second) and miniDP 1.4 (up to 4K at 60 personnel per second) connectors, as well as MIPI DSI interface. RPI 4, in turn, has only two Micro HDMI ports with 4K resolution support.

As for the communication modules, the device boasts a 1GbE controller (with PoE support), a Wi-Fi 6 adapter (2.4/5 GHz) and a Bluetooth 5.0 transmitter receiver (AIC8800).

In addition, the computer has a 3.5 mm audio jack, a MIPI CSI camera connector, two USB 3.0 Type-A and USB 2.0 Type-A ports and one USB Type-C used to power the device. There is a 40-pin interface characteristic of RPI supporting GPIO, I2C, SPI, UART, CAN.

The developer announced support for operating systems Debian 11 and Ubuntu 22.04 (both based on GNU/)Linux , as well as 12 Google Android.
