2022: Establishment of Intelligent Transport Systems Laboratory

On December 12, 2022, SIMETRA announced that a scientific laboratory of intelligent transport systems was created in Kazan on the basis of the National Research Technical University named after A.N. Tupolev (KNITU-KAI).

The laboratory was opened with the support of SIMETRA, a competence center in the field of transport planning, and GBU "Road Safety." The opening of the Laboratory took place with the participation of the Minister of Digital Development of Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communications of Tatarstan Airat Khairullin.

SIMETRA has equipped the classroom with all the necessary software solutions for transport modeling. SIMETRA experts on the basis of the laboratory will read an educational course to share with students their work in the industry.

The direction of ITS Tatarstan began to develop one of the first in Russia. Over the years, many implemented subsystems have proven their effectiveness: automatic photo and video recording, automated traffic control systems, automated weight and dimensional control, and so on. Nevertheless, the basis of all already developed and planned in the future subsystems of ITS is not so much technical means as competent specialists. Who should have both knowledge in IT and transport engineering. If we do not develop in this direction today, then tomorrow we will have to quickly adopt foreign experience. Therefore, I am absolutely sure that the launch of such laboratories will make it possible to qualitatively and systematically prepare competent personnel in the field of ITS, "said Rifkat Minnikhanov, head. Department" Intelligent Transport Systems "at KNITU-KAI.

The main emphasis in the work of the Laboratory will be on transport planning and modeling of transport flows. It will become a platform for conducting applied scientific research in transport for industries the needs state of management and domestic business. On the basis of the Laboratory, it will be possible to develop various models algorithms video analysts and for applications of intelligent transport systems, create simulation transport models, as well as models of control task algorithms. self-driving vehicles

In its 16 years of operation, SIMETRA has accumulated more expertise that can help prepare new generations of transport engineers. Practice shows that the presence of such a Laboratory at the university helps future specialists to gain strong competencies and experience in solving urgent problems, - said Vladimir Shvetsov, General Director of SIMETRA.
