2019: Medical devices software testing laboratory opened in Vilnius

On May 28, 2019, Auriga announced that its engineering center Vilnius in opened a laboratory to test software medical the devices of one of the company's regular customers. Together with the customer, Auriga's experts went from the idea to the implementation of the laboratory and in just a couple of months created a modern platform equipped with all the necessary equipment. The project will start in the laboratory in June 2019 and will be carried out according to the customer's processes in accordance with the requirements of IEC 62304, ISO 13485 ISO and 14971.

In recent years, Auriga has established 13 specialized engineering laboratories Russia in and, To Lithuania 8 of them medical. One of Auriga's largest development and testing projects ON for the European the customer, the manufacturer, medical equipment started in back Nizhny Novgorod in 2006. In the process of strengthening relations with the client, increasing confidence in the capabilities and level of professionalism of engineers, the project has significantly expanded, and two laboratories were formed to improve the development efficiency.

"Medical" laboratories are equipped with everything necessary: first of all, these are devices for which development is underway - patient monitoring complexes, dialysis systems, ventilators, infusomats with precedent pumps. Over the years of working with a wide range of medical devices, we have learned to create special conditions for their development and testing. For example, we have a "wet" laboratory with blood emulating fluids and a laboratory that allows you to work with gases. Auriga often uses experience from other industries (for example, telecom) in the development of medical software and actively uses the concept of Digital Twins ("digital twins"), in particular, functional simulators and HIL simulation for testing.

Under laboratory conditions, engineers can implement features and test how they work before bringing the device to market, provide interoperability, assemble almost any hardware configuration, and emulate external systems, services, or applications. In laboratories, we can reproduce any scenario for using the device, which is especially important for medical devices, because the ISO 14971 standard for risk management requires the identification and assessment of potentially dangerous scenarios. Laboratories are convenient when transferring a product to another platform, hardware or operating system, as well as in preparation for certification.

In laboratories, you can significantly reduce the time spent developing software or testing various scenarios. Auriga provides work for a dozen engineering laboratories in Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod and Vilnius. These are not only "medical" laboratories, but also laboratories for the development of embedded software, an electrical laboratory for working with high-voltage devices and others.

Why such laboratories are beneficial to foreign customers, it is clear: first of all, these are significant savings in funds required by renting space, storing and maintaining massive equipment, and paying for high-class specialists. In short, transferring development, prototyping, testing, migration and other tasks to laboratories is often much easier and cheaper than building and maintaining your own engineering center.

1995-1996

The very first client of Auriga's newborn was Hewlett-Packard, which needed a database application to track contracts with third-party consulting companies and independent contractors, monitor project status and generate financial reports. This cooperation lasted several years, and Auriga even received honorary status as a business partner of the company in Moscow and the Moscow region.

Among the interesting projects at the beginning of Auriga's journey are the work on projects for ADE Corp. in the field of statistical quality control systems for production processes and the development of real-time system software for Aquila Technologies Group, Inc.

Finally, 1995-96 became a turning point to some extent, when Auriga began working with Interleaf (later acquired by BroadVision) and Lynx RTS, Inc. (later renamed LynuxWorks Inc., and in 2014 changed its name to Lynx Software Technologies, Inc.). Auriga still cooperates with these companies.

1990: Founding of the company

Auriga was founded in 1990. It was in those years that Alexei Sukharev, professor at Moscow State University, doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, together with his colleagues became interested in the prospects for fulfilling orders for developing software for specific customers - foreign companies. This practice already successfully existed in India, but for Russia it was a new direction. Competition with Indian outsourcing companies was inevitable, so it was necessary to find their "highlights" that would favorably distinguish Russian software development. Alexey Grigorievich was sure that in itself the Russian traditionally strong technical education of our programmers and culture close to the West would become strong advantages in this dynamic market.

Initially, the company was located on the territory of the Research Computing Center of Moscow State University (RCC MSU). It is here today that the Supercomputer Center of Moscow University is located - the most powerful supercomputer complex in Russia and one of the leading centers in the world. Auriga was not just located on the territory of Moscow State University: the company collaborated with a leading Russian university from its very foundation. In particular, the Auriga training center was born on the basis of the university, in which the best Auriga engineers taught software development courses for Linux Kernel not only in Russia, but also in India - for representatives of development centers of large IT companies.
