2023: Center closure in Obninsk

In mid-October 2023, it became known that MedInvestGroup decided to close the Gamma Clinic medical center in Obninsk (Kaluga region). This institution, opened in 2018, worked on the basis of the Medical Radiological Scientific Center named after A.F. Tsyba.

Gamma Clinic specializes in treating tumors and vascular pathologies in the brain. For this, a unique installation called the Gamma Knife is used. It is intended for stereotactic radiosurgery - highly targeted remote irradiation of targets located inside the skull. The system allows you to supply a dose of radiation in tens of Gray to the desired zone in one session. The maximum dose is located inside the target, and a sharp drop occurs on the border of the irradiated focus with healthy tissues, as a result of which a safe dose of radiation falls on the adjacent tissues.

The closure of the clinic was announced by its leader Sergei Ilyalov. According to him, the medical institution stops working in connection with the decision of the shareholders. Ilyalov leaves Gamma Clinic on October 19, 2023, after which the organization will be disbanded.

Many patients with metastatic brain damage came to us from all over the country, from neighboring countries. Yes, it will now be more difficult for these people to receive such specialized assistance, we worked on compulsory medical insurance, - said Ilyalov.

The clinic was exclusively engaged in radiosurgery of brain tumors. The main indications for such therapy are intracerebral (metastases of cancer, gliomas, hemangioblastomas) and extracerebral (meningiomas, neurinomas of the auditory nerve and other craniocerebral nerves, paragangliomas, pituitary adenomas, chordomas, craniopharyngeomas and others) tumors, as well as vascular malformations (AVM, cavernous angiomas, dural arteriovenous fistulas).[1]
