2023: Opening of the second division for 1 billion rubles
In March 2023, the European Medical Center (EMS) opened the second division of the International Cancer Center (ICC). The medical facility operates on the basis of the Moscow Regional Research Clinical Institute named after M.F. Vladimirsky (MONIKI). About 1 billion rubles were invested in the project. The facility is located on Shchepkina Street near the EMS Hospital.
The clinic with an area of 4.7 thousand square meters. m is designed for 120 PET/CT studies per week. For radiation therapy in the medical organization, 15 beds of the day hospital in four shifts were allocated, for antitumor drug therapy - 12 beds in two shifts. EMC purchased the Siemens Biograph mCT scanner and Halcyon accelerator from Varian Medical Systems for the medical center .
The new center operates within the framework of the compulsory health insurance (compulsory medical insurance) program. The medical facility has round-the-clock and day hospitals with 24 and 27 beds, respectively. Earlier, EMS announced plans to carry out 3,200 chemotherapy procedures a year in this clinic at a rate of 157,000 rubles per course, as well as 1,750 procedures worth 180,000 rubles.
EMS CEO Andrei Yanovsky believes that renting space in MONICA will not lead to its growth, since the company's other business areas are also developing. According to him, the share of the "oncology" direction at EMS occupies about 18% in total sales.
Renting a room from a state medical institution is easier than building your own clinic from scratch, says Nikolai Bespalov, Development Director of RNC Pharma. According to him, the procedure for obtaining the documentation necessary for the construction of the object may take longer than the approval of the lease agreement. In addition, to create a new clinic, you need much more than the declared EMC 1 billion rubles, the expert believes. Renting part of MONICA, the company also solves the personnel problem, as it will be able to partially use specialists already working in the clinic, Bespalov summarizes.
2020: Opening
On June 25, 2020, the official opening of the Moscow International Cancer Center took place, which the capital's mayor Sergei Sobyanin called one of the best cancer clinics in Europe.
The project was implemented within the framework of the concession agreement concluded in 2013 between the Moscow Government and the private medical organization European Medical Center JSC. The investor was handed over a complex of buildings of the former city clinical hospital No. 63 with a total area of 29.6 thousand square meters on Durova Street. He got it for 49 years - until 2062.
We once transferred to the concession, in fact, a morally and physically outdated building. And today they received one of the best clinics in Europe in the field of oncology, provided with the latest technologies that exist in the world, - said Sobyanin. |
Andrei Yanovsky, general director of the Management Company of the European Medical Center JSC, told reporters that the new medical facility will become the largest cancer center in Europe. Assistance on the territory of this complex will be provided in all 100% of cases at compulsory medical insurance rates. People, residents of Moscow, will not need to pay any additional money, he explained.
Although the Moscow International Cancer Center was officially opened on June 25, 2020, it accepted the first patients in May. Since then, about 1 thousand people have already received help. In 2020, within the framework of the basic compulsory medical insurance program, the clinic will be able to undergo radiation therapy for more than 4.5 thousand patients.
The institution plans to open a 24-hour hospital and radionuclide diagnostics (PET/CT) department. Until 2025 (as part of the second stage of the project), they want to create a multidisciplinary medical center on the basis of the clinic.
It is noted that thanks to this clinic, 2 thousand new jobs will appear in Moscow, half of them for highly qualified medical personnel.[1]
