2023: Axelot WMS Rollout

In the warehouse Reaton To threshing barn in is now used. AXELOT WMS The company Axelot (Axelot) announced this on November 30, 2023.

The system was started remotely.

In a warehouse in Riga, as of November 2023, 4 temperature conditions are used for storing and processing goods. Until recently, a self-described management system worked in the warehouse, but the functionality of the software solution ceased to keep up with the needs of the warehouse. Therefore, Reaton management decided instead to implement a stable and easy to develop and scale system. Such a system was AXELOT WMS, and the implementation was carried out by AXELOT specialists together with the team from the customer.

The total area of the Reaton warehouse in Riga is 4345 square meters. m. Its standard operating mode is 5/2, but during the peak load period, the site can operate all seven days a week.

Before automation, the placement and selection of goods took place partially on paper and partially using scanners, labeling with a logistics label was carried out if it was mentioned in a paper document, which did not exclude errors caused by the human factor. Also, the previously used solution did not have the possibility of cluster selection, and it did not control the observance of the FEFO principle, including during replenishment.

In order to adapt AXELOT WMS to Reaton warehouse business processes, the project team conducted a survey and identified a number of features that were taken into account during the configuration of the system layout.

Before the project, the customer manually marked the items that needed to be labeled. Therefore, there have been cases when warehouse employees "let through" such goods and physically placed them in storage without marking. When the assembly time came, the warehouse had to urgently perform labeling, which delayed the selection and shipment.

During the project at the Reaton warehouse, a process was developed that started in AXELOT WMS after loading the document "Order for pasting."

  • During the acceptance process, the status of each item is indicated in the system, whether marking is necessary or not. When planning placement for goods requiring labeling, the system first offers an address in the labeling area and only then an address in the storage area. Depending on the actual actions performed with the product, the CIS also transfers the status by marking. If labels have not been printed and pasted, then further transactions for specific items will be blocked.
  • Before unloading the tasks for the selection and shipment of unmarked goods to the CIS, the document "Order for pasting" is formed. WMS plans to move the composition of this document to a special marking area and only after confirming the actual quantities for which the status change occurred, these stocks are available for the rest of the warehouse operations.

WMS requires access to data from third-party systems, so during the implementation, AXELOT has configured the company's integration landscape using DATAREON ESB. The capabilities of DATAREON ESB made it possible to implement real-time data exchange between AXELOT WMS and CIS.

Due to the circumstances, AXELOT specialists carried out the launch of the system into commercial operation and support at launch remotely, but despite this, the project was completed successfully, and Reaton soon noted an increase in the efficiency of the warehouse.

The transition to AXELOT WMS allowed Reaton to reduce the time spent on warehouse operations, while increasing their transparency and quality of execution. Due to the organization of expanded accounting for batches, the accuracy of processing of goods has increased. The speed of individual operations, for example, selection and placement by composition, increased fivefold.
