Bashinformsvyaz completes the next stage of upgrade of multiservice network

Content

The I-Teco company completed the project of upgrade of a backbone network of JSC Bashinformsvyaz.

Two years before

As of the beginning of 2009, the backbone network of IP/MPLS used by Bashinformsvyaz company, having practically selected the capacity, it was loaded to a limit. Increase in demand for Internet services and forecasts for expansion of subscriber capacity demanded from the operator of further development of infrastructure of a backbone network and increase in capacity which by that moment made 10 GB / page.

Start

JSC Bashinformsvyaz together with the companies I-Teco Cisco the plan of upgrade of network on the basis of technology of wavelength division multiplexing of DWDM is also developed. Advantage of this technology is that it allows to expand network transmission capacity, using the existing infrastructure without interruption of transfer of traffic to networks.

Implementation

Within the project the regional DWDM network implemented based on the Cisco ONS 15454 MSTP platform is started, upgrade of a core of network using high-performance Cisco ASR 9000 routers is executed, instead of ring structure of network the logical topology "star" is implemented. As a result capacity of a backbone network of JSC Bashinformsvyaz was expanded to 180 GB / page. The solution assumes a possibility of further step-by-step scaling of channel network, proceeding from growth of traffic and a subscriber base.

Project Development

On January 10, 2014 the Cisco company announced end in JSC Bashinformsvyaz of the next stage of development of multiservice network of the operator providing access to services in the Republic of Bashkortostan.

Project Tasks

Works on upgrade are carried out on the existing [1], created on the Cisco ONS 15454 MSTP platform and routers of a core IP/MPLS of network in key nodes of concentration of traffic — Cisco ASR 9000.

Project Progress

In a work progress the new coherent transponders transferring data with speed of 100 Gbps on one wavelength are installed in multiplexers of DWDM network. This transponder is equipped with interface 100 Gigabit Ethernet for connection of the client equipment and is capable to transfer traffic to distance to 4000 km without intermediate regeneration of a signal. Along with it line cards with interfaces 100 Gigabit Ethernet which connected to 100 Gbps to DWDM transponders are installed in Cisco ASR 9000 routers. Thus the high-speed backbone with a possibility of expansion to 4 Tbit / with, connecting with each other the main cities of the Republic of Bashkortostan is created. Redistribution of traffic flows is in addition made that allowed to use more effectively available infrastructure and also, thanks to close integration between DWDM-and IP levels, considerably to increase reliability and fault tolerance of a backbone network of the company.

Project Results

"Transfer of trunk network segment to interfaces of 100 Gbps allows to provide a large supply of capacity, to create the effective and scalable transport infrastructure necessary for maintenance of further growth and development of telecommunication services in the region. Also the fact that start of channels of 100 Gbps did not demand making changes in the existing DWDM network built a few years ago for transfer of traffic of 10 Gbps is important and it was carried out with direct participation of engineers of our company. It allowed to minimize terms and implementation cost, to carry out works without suspension of the existing services and also to put invaluable experience of the big project in a moneybox of our knowledge" — Rustam Yanyshev, the First Deputy CEO, the director of JSC Bashinformsvyaz of technologies noted.
