NPP Almaz replaced the foreign CAM system with ADEM CAM for KOMPAS-3D

2023: Completion of ADEM CAM implementation for Compass-3D

JSC NPP Almaz is completing the implementation of ADEM CAM for Compass-3D, an integrated CAD/CAM solution for the development of control programs for numerical control (CNC) machines. The project is supervised by the Regional ASCON Volga Center, which announced this on December 12, 2023.

The domestic software product developed by ADEM Group, ASCON partner in the Development consortium, was selected as part of a comprehensive import substitution program. The previous CAM system, in addition to its foreign origin, could not quickly and efficiently solve the problem of developing control programs for complex 4-5 coordinate machines.

Evaluating the Russian CAD/CAM solution, the specialists of JSC NPP Almaz noted the presence of an associative relationship between the geometry of the part and the machining route, thanks to which the tool paths are automatically recalculated with a change in geometry. The geometry of the part and control program is developed in a single KOMPAS-3D window, which facilitates the work of software technologists. As a result, the time to develop and adjust control programs is reduced.

To date, the software product has been implemented by 90%, specialists have been trained, and the final debugging of post-processors is underway. The pilot operation is continued on the example of the development of the most complex manufacturing part for a 5-coordinate CNC machine. According to the company's plans, the new CAD/CAM solution will close the tasks of developing control programs for the existing fleet of machines with the prospect of its expansion.

Obviously, ADEM CAM for KOMPAS-3D meets the stated requirements and expectations from the system.
