2024: Datareon Platform Implementation
On March 18, 2024, AXELOT announced the replacement of SAP PI with DATAREON in ITMS.
As reported, ITMS is one of the leaders in the Russian tobacco industry. Russian business built according to international standards. The company's portfolio includes international and Russian brands of cigarettes manufactured in accordance with quality standards: Dunhill, Kent, Vogue, Rothmans, Lucky Strike and Java, as well as alternative products - glo tobacco heating systems and Vuse disposable electronic evaporators. The ITMS group of companies employs about 2,500 people. ITMS owns a factory in St. Petersburg that produces cigarettes and sticks for glo tobacco heating systems. As of March 2024, the factory is among the largest such enterprises in Russia in terms of production capacity, as well as among the leaders in following ESG principles.
The implementation of the Russian integration solution was carried out within the framework of a comprehensive project for the translation IT of the -landschaft of the company to the domestic stack. One of the key elements for localization was the corporate bus, data which was previously built on the basis of SAP PI. During the integration project, the task was to integrate about 15 information systems of the company, half of which were to be implemented in parallel with the integration bus. An important point was the compatibility of the future domestic integration solution with the Russian and. operating system AstraLinux DBMS Postgres
Project Limitations:
- Short time - 9 months from the date of the kick-off meeting to the launch date;
- Availability of operating production 24\7 with minimum process windows for work at night;
- More than 10 independent commands that configure integrable systems that are not combined within the same general contractor, working in different locations.
The most important step was the definition of functional requirements for the future integration solution. Since the market of domestic integration solutions is in the stage of active formation, it was necessary to conduct a fairly extensive and in-depth analysis of current developers, their solutions and functionality.
During the Integration Requirements phase, it was important to us that the future solution allows us to integrate different systems with each other, both on the 1C platform and on other platforms with minimal cost to configure integrations. |
The key requirements for the integration solution were divided into functional and non-functional.
Non-functional requirements:
- The ability to deploy on the Russian Linux OS;
- Horizontal scalability and high availability;
- The ability to integrate with standard corporate stacks (monitoring systems, others);
- Centralized management of integration flows;
- Availability of community and/or corporate support for Russian companies;
- Maturity of the solution.
Functional requirements:
- A large number of connectors to various systems and components;
- Flexibility of the solution (possibility to develop custom modules);
- The ability to work as a low-code platform;
- Guaranteed delivery;
- Support for synchronous and asynchronous interaction mode;
- Integration with 1C ecosystem products out of the box;
- Data processing speed;
- Ability to transform data.
DATAREON was chosen as the most mature Russian product for application integration (> 600 implementations since 2014), with a clear clear development strategy (with a roadmap) and capable of fully replacing the Western analogue in terms of functionality.
The chosen solution was the leader in weight of the following indicators:
- Supported platforms;
- Scalability and fault tolerance;
- Monitoring of integration events and log processing in the external stack;
- Configuration;
- Corporate support and availability of product component specialists;
- Support for transport protocols;
- Development of routes in its own studio;
- Guaranteed delivery;
- Support for synchronous and asynchronous interaction;
- Support for interaction such as "Call," "Push and Pull";
- Integration of 1C family products.
The key selection criteria were:
- Availability of connectors and connection to 1C out of the box;
- Technological "maturity" of the solution;
- Availability of competence and sufficient number of projects in the portfolio.
SOFROS has become a technology partner in the implementation of the DATAREON integration solution project.
In total, about 150 integration flows were built during the project with intensive data exchange between the following systems:
Also, which is especially important, given the round-the-clock format of production, during the implementation of the project, a process of full-fledged technical support was built in 24/7 mode.
In the process of working on the project, DATAREON experts conducted comprehensive training for both ITMS technical support specialists and employees of the company's IT department.

= emphasized Sinitsyn Vasily, senior IT business partner of ITMS' Implementation of the integration solution is always associated with the use of not only a large number of IT systems and components, but also with the involvement of teams, contractors, so it is extremely important to think out the key rules of interaction in advance and make friends with each other.
Integration testing in offline format, with full-time interaction of commands with each other, helped.}}
Based on the experience of this project, the following main factors can be distinguished:
- Awareness of the product, architecture and capabilities of other contractors;
- Contractors' areas of responsibility: clear definition;
- Timely engagement of the integration contractor;
- Online inclusion of the integration command in the customer's functional teams;
- Limited term - T&M contract and the level of trust between the customer and contractors accelerates the project at times.
Close cooperation with the Customer, timely highlighted risks, trust and responsibility for the result of each party - the key parameters of the success of this project. noted Oleg Gritsenko, head of the SOFROS project office |
