Russian logistics company Pony Express began delivering cargo on electric trucks

Customers: Pony Express (Frate link)

Moscow; Logistics and Distribution

Product: EVM PRO

Project date: 2024/11

Pony Express began using electric trucks to deliver goods, expanding environmentally friendly solutions on its routes in Moscow and other regions. Among the first models used on Moscow routes were the SOVA 25 and EVM PRO electric vehicles, which allowed Pony Express to reduce emissions and improve delivery quality. The Russian logistics company announced this on November 6, 2024.

According to Pony Express, the launch of electric trucks is aimed at reducing the negative impact on the environment and increasing the economic efficiency of logistics. The use of electric vehicles is already helping to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and reduce noise pollution in Moscow.

Electric vehicles are not only a more "clean" alternative to transport with internal combustion engines, but also a strategic opportunity to increase business competitiveness, - said the CEO of the company.

Pony Express actively tests and implements electric vehicles, which allows the company to minimize operating costs. Electric trucks require significantly less maintenance and charging costs compared to traditional gasoline and diesel vehicles, according to the company. This helps to reduce the cost of logistics operations and maintain competitive conditions for customers. In addition, in a number of regions of Russia, electric cars are exempt from transport tax and can use free parking, which further reduces the financial burden on the company.

The company explained that despite the obvious benefits of electric transport, a complete transition to electric vehicles is not yet possible. The main restrictions are related to the insufficiently developed charging infrastructure and the need for more capacious batteries for long-distance routes. At the moment, electric transport is used on city routes in Moscow, but Pony Express plans to expand the use of electric trucks in other large cities of the country as soon as the infrastructure is sufficiently developed.[1]
