The Russian company EM Rus has begun serial deliveries of EVM Pro electric trucks. This was announced on June 8, 2024 by the general director of the company Ilya Rashkin.

The manufacturer of commercial electric trucks EVM Pro, EM Rus, signed contracts for several billion rubles in 2024 for the supply of proprietary auto components. He noted that the highly localized solutions of the company meet the needs of the domestic industry and allow maintaining an acceptable cost.

Rashkin clarified that serial deliveries of EVM Pro electric trucks and components for them began in January 2024. Among the first customers are Russian companies interested in using advanced technologies and components developed by EM Rus. This helps to reduce dependence on imported supplies and strengthen the domestic market for auto components.

In addition, EVM Pro electric trucks, according to the company, offer effective solutions for commercial vehicles, focused on environmental friendliness and reducing operating costs. The introduction of such technologies is in line with the country's strategic priorities for the transition to sustainable and energy efficient vehicles.

According to Rashkin, the production of EVM Pro includes the integration of advanced developments in the field of battery systems and electric motors. This makes it possible to ensure high performance and reliability of equipment required for modern logistics and cargo transportation.[1]

Announcement of an updated version capable of driving 300 km without recharging

In October 2023, Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Rus introduced the updated EVM Pro electric truck. Version 2.0 has become 150 kg lighter, the on-board electronics and the charger that comes with the machine have been completely updated.

The modified model is equipped with an upgraded battery of 90 kWh, providing a range of up to 300 km, and a charging time of 2 hours. The lifting capacity of the EVM Pro 2.0 was increased to 1000 kg due to the lightweight design of 150 kg, and the changed body superstructures (manufactured van, "europhurgon" and isothermal van) made it possible to optimize aerodynamics.

In addition, according to the manufacturer, the updated electric truck has improved the heating and air conditioning system of the driver's cab without losing battery charge and reducing range. Detailed characteristics of the novelty are not given.

EVM Pro is a domestic electric truck based on the UAZ Profi chassis for intra-city logistics. 77% of components, including all onboard electronics, electric motor, chassis, sensors and plastic - are Russian-made. The life of the electric motor is 10 times longer than that of the ICE, and the maintenance costs are 50-70% lower, the manufacturer says.

According to Rashkin, by October 23, 2023, total investments in the EVM Pro project exceeded 1 billion rubles, and the cost of the car is 4.8 million rubles, excluding state subsidies.[2]

Interest in new trucks has already been expressed by Russian Post, Russian Railways, Gazpromneft, Mosenergo, Leroy Merlin, Ozon and others. The cost of the electric car is 4.5 million rubles. The package includes a 40kW portable charger to charge the machine out of town.[3]

On February 20, 2023, Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Rus announced the start of sales of electric trucks based on UAZ Profi EVM PRO. Buyers can order a new product and get it starting in the second quarter of 2023. The cost of the first 250 cars will be 4.5 million rubles. It is possible that in the future the electric car will rise in price. It can be purchased both directly from the manufacturer and at the Torgmash car dealerships in Moscow.

By the time sales began, there were three modifications of the EVM PRO: a manufactured goods van, a Europhurgon and an isothermal van. The truck is equipped with an electric motor of its own design, which develops up to 300 Nm. A lithium-iron-phosphate 90-kilowatt battery is responsible for energy conservation, with which, according to the developers, an electric car can drive up to 300 kilometers without recharging. The curb weight of the EVM Pro is up to 3.5 tons with a payload of up to 1 ton. The equipment of the electric car includes an autonomous battery heater and an on-board computer with advanced functionality.

Electric truck based on UAZ "Profi" EVM PRO

The braking distance with a full load of the car at a speed of 95 km/h (maximum speed of the car) was 57.5 m with a standard value of 63.7 m. Tests also showed that due to the peculiarities of the location of the battery, the electric truck is resistant to side rolls and will safely pass turns. Its tipping angle was 39 degrees with a regulatory requirement of at least 37 degrees.[4]

Launch of production of electric trucks based on UAZ "Profi"

On August 16, 2022, the company "Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Rus" announced the launch of a plant for the production of electric trucks EVM Pro, created on the basis of UAZ "Profi" in Moscow. The volume of investments in the project is 900 million rubles.

According to Izvestia, citing the manufacturer's press service, the technical launch of the enterprise will take place in September 2022, and mass production of cars is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022.

By the beginning of June 2022, the specialists of the plant where the EVM PRO will be produced will deliver new equipment to the site, as well as recruit personnel. Electric Cars Manufacturing Rus is a startup founded by Ilya Rashkin (45%) and Igor Girdin (55%). The volume of investments required for the first stage of the project is 1 billion rubles, these are the company's own and borrowed funds.[7]

On January 18, 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Trade completed the collection of applications for a special investment contract for the production of electric vehicles. Applications were submitted by Motorinvest LLC from the Lipetsk Region and Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Rus LLC from St. Petersburg. In February 2022, it was announced that both applications were recognized by the interdepartmental commission as the winners of the competitive selection.
