Fuel and energy complex facilities have always been under the scrutiny of cyber attackers who sought to gain access to their information systems for a variety of purposes: from data theft to the organization of accidents and man-made disasters. In recent years, the number of cyber attacks on Russian critical infrastructure has increased significantly, and their complexity has increased. For effective counteraction, they need qualified specialists who have experience working with domestic information security solutions that have the necessary level of technological independence. The opening of a class designed to educate students on specially formed curricula, as well as the presence of demonstration equipment designed and manufactured in Russia, is an important event in the field of improving the security of information infrastructure at the state level, "said Dmitry Pravikov, Head of the Department of Integrated Security of Critical Facilities of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas named after I.M. Gubkina.

The landscape of cyber threats is changing very quickly, attacks are becoming more complex and sophisticated, political ones are added to commercial goals, which means that the IT infrastructure of fuel and energy enterprises is under constant threat from cybercriminals and requires constant qualified protection. Solutions to support it are also becoming more complex and require a higher level of training. Seeing the need for personnel, the UserGate Academy provides all possible assistance to educational institutions for their preparation. One of these projects is a classroom at Gubkin University. It is very important that specialists have not only deep theoretical knowledge in the field of information security, but also practical skills in working with domestic solutions, in particular UserGate NGFW, - said Margarita Zaytseva, director of the UserGate Academy.
