EMC RecoverPoint recovers RS-Bank v. 5.5 after failures

RS-Bank v. 5.5 – the modern the automated banking system (ABS) focused first of all on requirements of commercial banks of category SMB. For many years it is in the lead in the Russian ABS market. According to the results of a research of Association of Russia regional banks in 2009 a share of the credit institutions using RS-Bank v. 5.5, made about 25%.

The core banking system is the "rod" system of bank therefore the developed mechanisms providing the continuity of its functioning, fast recovery after failures and protection against accidents using the remote platform are so important.

In tests the EMC CLARiiON CX4-120 disk array and the hardware and software system EMC RecoverPoint 3.3 was used. Within joint testing of EMC RecoverPoint and RS-Bank v. 5.5 the special mechanism of interaction allowing to guarantee integrity of the system data which are stored the disk array at a given time was developed. Work of different package procedures of the core banking system RS-Bank v was checked. 5.5 using several databases. Ensuring integrity of the mechanism of postings and lack of loss of documents became important criteria of check.

Results of the held joint testing confirmed:

• compatibility and operability of solutions in the local and distributed mode;
• significant simplification of process of recovery of RS-Bank 5.5 after failures;
• reduction of time necessary on recovery of a complex of the core banking system RS-Bank v. 5.5, up to several minutes;
• repeated decrease in amount of the data lost at failure;
• an opportunity to implement a disaster-proof configuration with fast recovery of the core banking system RS-Bank v. 5.5 on the reserve platform;
• possibility of use of low-speed IP channels at transfer of databases on the reserve platform.
