2022: Growth of software sales for 5 years 2.4 times to 66 billion rubles
Sales of software for cash registers (KKO) in Russia in 2022 amounted to 66 billion rubles, which is 6.5% more than a year earlier. In comparison with 2018, the market volume increased 2.4 times, BusinesStat analysts calculated. They published the study in August 2023.
As noted in the report, the growth of the software market for KKO in 2022 slowed down due to several reasons, including:
- the departure of foreign manufacturers, which caused difficulties with the supply and creation of new products;
- weakening of the ruble exchange rate;
- rising prices;
- increased economic problems.
In 2021, the RUC software market in Russia also began to grow more slowly due to economic problems in the country, as well as due to a decrease in activity in the main sectors of cash register consumption - retail and Internet trade. The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic has negatively affected the number of companies entering the market.
Nevertheless, the market turnover in 2021 and 2022. increased due to import substitution, mass transition and replacement of equipment with domestic solutions, as well as an increase in software prices for KKO, the researchers point out.
They also drew attention to the shift in the focus of consumer attention from basic functionality to additional services and services of application applications. The share of SaaS solutions based on marketplaces of additional services of software products for KCO is growing. New business models are emerging, more and more KCO suppliers are starting to offer equipment for rent or by subscription, increasing the value proposition by offering additional services, BusinesStat said.
According to the report, the number of software products sold for KKO in Russia for 2018-2020. increased 1.8 times - up to 5.4 million units. The reason for the growth in demand for software products for KKO in Russia in 2018 was the introduction of amendments from 2017 to the law of the 54-FZ "On the use of cash registers," obliging certain groups of enterprises to transfer data from cash registers to the Federal Tax Service online. Later, the increase in the number of purchased software products was associated with the expansion of their range due to competition in the market. The focus of consumer attention gradually shifted from basic requirements (relevance and the possibility of remote updating in accordance with 54-FZ, reliability) to additional services and services of application applications.
In 2021-2022 the growth in the implementation of software products for KCO in Russia slowed down to 0.3-4.1% per year. The slowdown was caused by the completion of the reform. In addition, the pandemic has negatively affected the number of new companies entering the market, and existing software users have begun to reduce hardware costs. In 2022, negative trends intensified amid the economic crisis in the country, as well as the departure from Russia of a number of suppliers of software for KCO (including large companies such as Ingenico, a French manufacturer of POS terminals and software for them). At the end of 2022, the number of software products implemented for KKO amounted to 5.6 million units, the study says.
According to the results of 2022, analysts attributed the following companies to the leader of the Russian software market for cash registers (their share in the open version of the study is not given):
- "SKB Kontur";
- "Evotor";
- "ATOL";
- "Crystal Service Integration";
- "Drimkas."[1]
